Meta Reality Labs Wearables Audio Technology Team is looking for an Acoustics/Audio Engineer who has research, design, implementation, and project leading skills. The ideal engineer employs demonstrated experience in theoretical and practical acoustics, electro-mechano-acoustic simulations, audio signal processing and hands-on prototyping capabilities.
Audio Engineer Responsibilities:
- Research, design, and advance the state of the art in precision sound reproduction.
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to evaluate the performance of existing transducers to help push the design envelope for the next generation of high-performance audio devices.
- Develop advanced numerical simulation techniques to solve complex, unsolved problems in the area of acoustics, spatial audio, and signal processing with applications in Smart Glasses and AR Glasses.
- Study and advance the state of the art in audio signal processings and acoustic transducers.
- Conduct acoustic tests and create related metrics.
- Characterize novel materials and new devices.
- Work closely with engineers to design and prototype audio devices.
- Validate the prototypes from simulations and measurements.
- Work with external vendors for fabrication and manufacturing.

- 5+ years of experience in acoustics, electro-mechano-acoustic simulations and prototyping.
- Demonstrated experience in design, implementation, research and project leading skills.
- Demonstrated experience in Matlab, COMSOL, and equivalent tools
- M.S. or Ph.D in AE, ME, Physics or EE.
- Decisive, action-oriented team player who learns quickly and takes ownership of open issues.
- Experience with a variety of acoustic test equipment such as RME, Klippel, SoundCheck, Audio Precision, etc.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, COMSOL, Klippel RnD, Audio Precision
- Familiarity with microfabrication
- Familiarity with dynamic and/or piezoelectric transducers
- Familiarity with MEMS development
- Familiarity with audio signal processing
