This role involves leading and handling cutting-edge and complex integrity legal projects and matters across Meta's family of apps, including Instagram, Threads, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Reality Labs, involving intricate legal issues without precedent, a quickly-evolving and expanding regulatory landscape, collaboration with cross-functional teams, while supporting the fast-paced launches of innovative, first-of-its-kind products around the world.
Associate General Counsel, Integrity Product Legal Responsibilities:
- Scoping, developing and implementing legal guidance, strategies, and plans that increase impact in supporting integrity product teams and core product teams and cross-organization initiatives
- Serve as content/safety/integrity legal subject matter expert related to content moderation and online safety issues including enforcement of codes of conduct or community guidelines/policies
- Provide legal analysis and guidance across many subject areas including global content regulations, intermediary liability, consumer protection laws, terms of service/policies, and other global legal frameworks including privacy and youth
- Coordinate with legal, product management, policy, communications, engineering, product marketing, operations, customer support, and other cross-functional teams on content, integrity, and safety matters, for product development/launches, regulatory readiness and compliance, and external communications
- Support Legal and Policy teams' engagement with regulators and legislators on content, integrity, and safety issues
- Lead legal and cross-functional analysis and alignment, driving coordination and harmonization of legal guidance to internal client teams

- J.D. degree or equivalent, and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 8+ years as a practicing attorney including at a law firm, government, and/or in-house experience
- Experience with product, privacy, or regulatory counseling related to the above subject areas
- Experience successfully taking on projects involving unfamiliar subject matters, and working effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience developing approaches to legal challenges while providing business-focused legal advice
- Experience leading cross-functional efforts and working on multiple projects, primarily from own initiative but actively seeking input and feedback where appropriate
- Experience reporting to managers and leadership for escalations, and providing visibility across the company to you and your team's work, objectives, and outcomes
- Experience advising on content moderation, online safety, regulatory, security, investigations, and/or law enforcement matters
- Experience with CDA 230, 18 USC §2258A, SESTA-FOSTA, EU Digital Services Act, and other content/online safety regulations
- Experience in-house at internet/technology company, building scalable legal guidance and processes such as frameworks, playbooks, and product guidance
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and organizational needs, while staying focused on critical business objectives.
- Experience managing time-sensitive projects through to completion while balancing evolving priorities and a diverse range of stakeholders

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
