BigBox VR, the team behind POPULATION: ONE, is seeking an Art Manager who can help build the next generation of Virtual Reality games. We are looking for a strong communicator who loves the iterative creative and technical process. This person will have the desire to understand a product holistically and can contribute creatively, knowing when to be pragmatic and when to be blue sky. This person will make product strategy trade-offs that align with business objectives while embracing teamwork, as well as solve problems independently.An ideal candidate has hands-on experience as an artist in a game studio, is familiar with game development, engines, tools and best practices, and is capable of managing and supporting a team of highly-skilled artists.

Art Manager Responsibilities:
- Art Team Coach:
- Provide specific feedback, balance positive and negative feedback, and have regular one-on-one meetings
- Results-Oriented Execution:
- Focus on helping the team achieve their goals by removing obstacles and being a resource
- Work with the team to manage day-to-day tasks and communications
- Work closely with the team's leadership to set high-level goals and direction for our projects and ensure execution is successful
- Evaluate and implement improvements to the art content pipeline, process, and tools
- Effective Communication:
- Engage in active listening, share information transparently, and encourage open dialogue
- Coordinate with all disciplines to schedule and track key work development
- Have a clear vision and strategy for the team:
- Set clear goals, provide direction, and ensure the team understands how their work fits into the larger picture
- Support career development and discuss performance:
- Help team members with their career paths, provide growth opportunities, and have regular performance discussions
- Work closely with the artists to understand the challenges the team faces and provide informed guidance based on experience and best practices
- Minimum 8 years experience leading an internal art team
- Experience leading multiple titles from concept through launch as an Art Lead or IC
- Demonstrated experience with Maya (or, 3D Studio Max), Photoshop, Perforce, ZBrush, and Unity or similar game engine
- Results-oriented, empathetic coach and mentor with a track record of growing artists' skills and bringing out their best work
- Experience to communicate art direction and feedback in an effective, constructive, and efficient manner
- Demonstrated understanding of art production, process, pipelines and tools across related disciplines
- Experience to work strategically or tactically. Knows when to delegate and isn't afraid to roll up sleeves and work in the details to drive the best outcome
- Effective team leader with a positive and motivating point of view to inspire and focus the team to deliver visually stunning work
- Experience working with outsourcing partners across different locations and time zones
- Expertise adapting to various communication and work styles
- Demonstrated history of working well with cross-functional teams and organizations
- Leverage art experience and skills to steer team.
- Experience building content for live service and free-to-play product
- Connected with current and emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies for Art production
- Experience on full development cycles in AAA
- Interest for VR and AR

$149,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
