Job Description

The Non-Clinical Drug Safety (NDS) organization within our company's Research Laboratories is currently seeking an immunotoxicology scientist to join the Investigative Toxicology team at the West Point, PA site.

The scientist will work closely with Investigative Toxicology leads to support safety assessment of drug candidates across therapeutic areas (immunology, oncology,, etc.). The role will contribute to mechanistic investigations of toxicity, lead optimization, and development of novel assays and platforms to support the evolving portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design and draft assay plans, troubleshooting technical issues, and provide preliminary results and data interpretation to investigative tox team and stakeholders. The individual is expected to draft protocols/experimental procedures and contribute to final assay reports as appropriate.
  • Perform immunotox/immunology assays which involve immune cell culture, ELISA, and various immune cell functional assessments.
  • Accurately record data from experiments, including observations, measurements, and sample details, in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Operate and maintain various laboratory equipment such as spectrophotometers, microscopes, cytometers, centrifuges, various PCR and western blot instruments.
  • The role will also share the responsibilities in managing lab activities such as reagent ordering/stocking, animal tissue processing and storage, maintaining documentation related to protocol execution and experiment results.
  • Communicate effectively with Immunotoxicology/Investigative Tox leads and stakeholders. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including protein sciences, chemistry, pharmacology, etc. Providing regular updates on assay status and potential gaps to team members. Present results at lab group and departmental meetings.

Qualification

  • Bachelor or Master degree in life science, such as Toxicology, Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 1+ (with MS) year of experience or 3+ years (with BS) of hands-on related laboratory experience in industrial or academic settings.
  • Familiar with cell culture, in vitro assays, and/or basic molecular biology techniques such as protein/RNA extraction, western blot, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues across multiple teams.
  • A passion for scientific research and toxicology, with a desire to contribute to meaningful safety evaluations.

Preferred experience:

  • Prior experiences with flow cytometry, ELISPOT, or automated western blot techniques are highly desired but not required.
