Operational Safety Coaching and Training Lead, Engineering, Maintenance & Utilities (P3)

The Operational Safety Coaching and Training Lead will report to the HEC Subsystem owner, within the Engineering, Maintenance & Utilities organization. This professional will manage direct reports (our Company and/or Contractor) in support of various shop floor high risk work activities. This position will involve significant partnering with the Site's maintenance, technical operations, and operations areas in addition to the Site's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization. Ultimately, key performance indicators for this role will be realized by both significant and sustained reduction of HRW related safety incidents, injuries, and audit findings.

Responsibilities

  • Consult on routine, and non-routine, permit-required jobs to identify and mitigate risk. Participate in pre job planning, and briefings, as requested.
  • Coach personnel on permit requirements, to enhance personnel proficiency in site safety procedures.
  • Provide SME support for the development of equipment and task specific ECPs.
  • Collaborate with EHS, to track and review site safety data (investigations, permit audit metrics, etc.), to identify safety related trends, participate in root cause analyses, and development of pertinent CAPAs.
  • Participate in the development, coordination, and facilitation of HRW related training (HEC, Elevated Work, Confine Space, etc.). Also manage the Appointed Authorized Employee certification and Authorize Employee refresher programs.
  • Support site safety investigation owners, in determination of incident root cause. Also provide input into the development, communication, and implementation of site level corrective and preventative actions.
  • Participate in site and area specific Safety Committee activities, as requested.
  • Support effective communication of enhancements to the Site Safety Program, along with the requisite change management, on the shop floor.
  • Support Site HRW Safety Audits

Education Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant areas of study,

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 6 years of experience in a production/technical environment in an Occupational Safety and Health role, or 4 years of relevant Military Service experience.
  • Experience operating in a GMP and Safety Regulated production environment.
  • Experience in successful implementation of OSHA governed High Risk Work permit-required standards and processes. (ex. Electrical Safety, Hazardous Energy Control, Hot Work, Confined Space, Elevated Work, Mobile Crane Operations, and Elevated Work)
  • Experience in leading and developing a team of 5+ employees to achieve intended results.
  • Experience in developing or facilitating effective safety training and learner assessments, with an emphasis on instructor-led and on-the-job training applications.
  • Experience in conducting impactful instructions to adult learners.
  • Experiencing in coaching and developing personnel to positively influence safe work practices and improve a safety culture.
  • Experience in managing and continuously improving workflows and processes with significant safety, operational and cultural impact.
  • Experience in developing and analyzing routine and non-routine maintenance and construction related risk assessments and hazard mitigation plans.
  • Experiencing in tracking, analyzing, and presenting data to measure results and drive continuous improvement decisions.
  • Experience in change management, cross-functional problem solving and solutioning to achieve business results with a safety-first focus.
  • Experience in regulatory audits, including direct interface with internal and external auditors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
