This Laboratory Logistics Specialist will support the progression of molecules through the development process by facilitating R&D laboratory operational excellence in the Pharmaceutical Sciences department, thereby helping to transform drug candidates into marketed products for our company's Animal Health, a company whose products enable pets and people to enjoy their time together and help keep livestock healthy to ensure a safe, sustainable, and high-quality food supply.

Within our company's Animal Health Pharmaceutical Sciences department the Laboratory Logistics Specialist serves an integral function within the laboratory, ensuring smooth operation of day-to-day activities. This position will interact with all groups in the department and requires excellent communication and organizational skills.

Position Description:

  • Support the day-to-day activities and organization within the laboratory, including managing equipment, inventory, and other logistical considerations with a focus on process improvement, operational excellence, and interdepartmental collaboration.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee GMP and non-GMP laboratory equipment life-cycle management, including scheduling maintenance and repair services and retiring old equipment.
  • Support facilities-related issues within the laboratory, acting as a liaison to facilities management, lab services, and lab scientists (i.e. placing facilities requests and following up with the multidisciplinary teams until projects are completed successfully).
  • Manage purchasing for laboratory and other miscellaneous supplies (e.g. laboratory equipment, chemicals, LAC/e boxes, barcode scanners, and office supplies).
  • Take ownership and collaborate closely with laboratory scientists in adhering to safety policies, regulations, and documentation, waste stream support, and chemical management.
  • Act as a point of contact for a variety of lab relationships, including laboratory equipment vendors, procurement, shipping receiving and logistics, and others.
  • Host external vendors while onsite (i.e. proactively completing visitor security documentation, escorting to / from security, ensuring proper safety and waste disposal compliance).
  • Bring elucidation to routine, yet complicated, business processes, identifying possible solutions, and arranging training for larger scientific team as necessary.
  • Support the new hire process by ensuring onboarding documentation is up-to-date and distributed appropriately to the manager of the new hire prior to start date.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Associate degree in business or life sciences with experience in a laboratory setting preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of the listed educational requirements.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven ability to handle and prioritize a large number of simultaneous assignments and drive results.
  • Outstanding communication skills - demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and succinctly.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Effective organizational skills in supporting multiple functions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and independently/effectively prioritize work.
  • Ability to independently anticipate and solve problems that arise.
  • Consistent delivery of commitments in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Team player with a "can-do" attitude, flexibility, and adaptability.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on process improvement, operational excellence, and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Understanding "why" and not just the "how" of processes and practices.
  • Experience, knowledge, and/or background exposure to GMP processes and requirements.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:
$62,000.00 - $97,600.00
