Primary Responsibilities:

Global R&D Planning, Analysis, and Reporting:

  • Oversee and understand the financials of the entire division, providing comprehensive analysis and executive summaries for senior management.
  • Responsible for analyzing expenses for the division and the variances vs. plan/ forecast and the previous years. Responsible for conducting a detailed analysis of all expense lines
  • Actively lead, participate and coordinate budgeting and forecasting process along with the long-range operating plan process. Develop Planning and Forecasting guidance for the division. Analyze and brief SVP Finance and prepare materials for RLT on Actual Results, Budget and Forecast financials.
  • Provide (and/ or maintain), in collaboration with appropriate colleagues, Divisional Financial Key Performance Metrics. Prepare presentations and provide critical inputs for various meetings and discussions of senior management (e.g. RLT meeting, Corporate EC Review, etc.)
  • Lead and coordinate the quarterly actuals review with the Controller's organization, Investor Relations, Corporate Financial Services, and our outside auditors
  • Be a coordinator with Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis function and participate in the Corporate Projects related to financial planning and analysis as required
  • Lead, coordinate, and extend Integrated Research & Development (R&D) reporting for planning and prioritizing our company's R&D investments.
  • Maintain Prague BSC contact for headcount planning, reporting, and business support
  • Lead control processes for R&D Finance, including financial reporting, audits, and policy updates
  • Develop understanding of R&D business and track key projects with potential impact on R&D operations

Capital:

  • Lead R&D Capital governance process, including reporting, forecasting, and senior management reviews
  • Extend efforts to ensure benefits realization from capital investments (IT, facilities, etc.), working with the business to (a) improve the process by which benefits from capital investments are projected and (b) develop mechanisms to enable division-level tracking of realization

Project Accounting and Grants Processing:

  • Partner with Tax for our company's tax strategy related to IP Billing, Orphan Drug Credit, and Research Tax Credit Initiatives
  • Oversee R&D Fully Absorbed Cost calculation process and reporting
  • Manage R&D time tracking process
  • Lead IRA required submissions of R&D investments and coordinate reporting at the enterprise level

Systems and Business Support:

  • Provide support for R&D Finance systems and processes, ensuring alignment with planning, reporting, and operations, including ensuring the full realization of investments in FOCUS and FACT tools
  • Manage day-to-day operations, data maintenance, troubleshooting, system training, and access, aligned with our company's security and SOX controls
  • Provide R&D Finance insight and assess impact for cross-functional initiatives, including leading R&D Finance implementations.

Leadership Aspects of the Role:

  • Collaborate with sub-divisional finance leads for smooth information flow, reporting, and planning processes.
  • Lead or participate in diverse projects across Finance and R&D, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Serve as a member of the R&D Finance Leadership Team
  • Focus on Talent building and development within team, R&D Finance and our company's Finance is a key tenet of the position

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Required: BS/BA, Accounting or Finance
  • Preferred: MBA in Finance, CPA or CFA

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 10 years of progressive experience in Finance or related fields
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and management reporting requirements
  • Financial Planning & Analysis experience
  • Strong knowledge of our company's financial information, AtR processes and systems
  • Ability to think and act strategically
  • Ability to work independently and accurately under tight time constraints.
  • Ability to collaborate in cross functional teams and with senior management members driving results on behalf of our company
  • Strong Leadership
  • Willingness to challenge current thinking/processes
  • Passionate and motivated

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Business Partnering Experience
  • Effective multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Experience in R&D

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected US salary range:
$200,200.00 - $315,100.00
