Job Description

Our company's Small Molecule External Manufacturing organization is responsible for management of third party manufactures of our Company's products across drug substance, drug product and packaging operations. The organization helps launch and supply our critical medicines and vaccines around the world. The Strategy team is responsible for the creation, execution, and realization of the Small Molecule ExM Strategy in alignment with our company's Strategic Framework and enables the organization to meet its long-term ambition. This includes performing detailed strategic analysis, enabling the implementation of the strategic vision, and integrating key strategy elements needed to transform the business, with ongoing project/initiative elements aligned to our priorities.

The Director will interact with key operational and functional leaders and will be a lead for critical initiatives. The leader will be required to communicate, influence, and manage across the business as well as with partners in stakeholder organizations, such as Value Chain Management, Science & Technology, Procurement, Quality and others to achieve outcomes towards our long-term strategic priorities.

Position Description:

The Director plays a crucial role in developing and translating business strategy into successful implementation. This involves executing strategic initiatives, collaborating with cross functional stakeholders and initiative leads. This role will be responsible for solving complex problems, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement, value creation and adoption of change. The successful candidate will be a driven, strategic thinker with a focus on executional excellence, adept at navigating complex environments, with a key focus on business savviness.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, manage, and execute projects of strategic importance for the organization. Projects may be cross-Functional, cross-Geographical and/or cross-Divisional opportunities that require collaboration/coordination across multiple stakeholders.
  • Support functional partners to ensure contemporary knowledge of the industry to ensure external factors are brought into decision making
  • Lead activities related to developing, implementing, and delivering change management to appropriate audience across the organization.
  • Leverage collaborative decision making, problem-solving and substantial stakeholder management skills to deliver exceptional sound business insights, judgements, and decisions
  • Lead special projects and assignments as needed

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, project management or supply chain management with ten (10) years of proven leadership while working in the following functions: Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Tech Ops, New Product Development, or Supply Chain

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience leading organizational change and providing oversight to transformation.
  • Thrives in ambiguity, excels at problem-solving, and makes rapid, disciplined decisions focused on value delivery.
  • Preferred:
  • Deep and diverse understanding of the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on external manufacturing landscape
  • Experience with Strategy Realization Framework (SRF)
  • Overall operational excellence - lean manufacturing skills
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands, act with urgency, when necessary, effective follow-ups on tasks and activities.
  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations, formulate a plan, focus on what matters, drive outcomes, and speak up and be open-minded.
  • Innovative thinking to experiment, learn and adapt new ways of working and initiatives supporting the strategy.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate's relevant skills, experience, and education.

Expected US salary range:
$164,800.00 - $259,400.00
