The West Point manufacturing location is a mission-critical site within the Manufacturing Global Vaccine Operating (GVO) unit and is responsible for the commercialization, launch and supply of some of our company's most important vaccine products, including all our HPV and Pneumococcal vaccines, with shared accountability for the manufacturing of several of our key vaccines. The scope of West Point GVO site includes five End To End or Focus Factory units: Bio-Bacterial Manufacturing, Live Virus, Pneumococcal, and Core Site Services.

The leader of our Digital Manufacturing Operations (DMO) team at West Point will act as the primary Business Technology Partner (BTP) for this Manufacturing site, and as such, will be responsible for the development and execution of the Digital/ IT Strategy for West Point; for driving the successful implementation and the maximization of value from all technology investments; and for assuring stable IT and Automation Operations across all sites, and external connections, for the Operating Unit. As a BTP, the leader acts as the single point of accountability for all technological matters at West Point (across both the Information Technology and Operations Technology areas) and plays an essential role in Running the Business, Growing the Business and Transforming the Business.

Given the criticality of this role, this leader will be an active member of the West Point Site Leadership Team (SLT), as well as being a core member of the DMO SLT. The role reports to the Digital Manufacturing, DMO GVO Leader and works in close partnership with the DMO Leaders within the Global Vaccine Operations unit to deliver sustainable value through seamless and standardized digital capabilities across the full Manufacturing network.

The responsibilities of the DMO at West Point leadership role, include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage a group of 80+ technology professionals, across the West Point site, promoting career development and continuous upskilling of talent to build incredible, diverse teams and the ecosystem to empower them.
  • Work in partnership with the West Point SLT, in a Business Technology Partner capacity, to translate business priorities into a purposeful digital strategy - refreshing the content on a periodic basis. Develop and implement a specific digital strategy that transforms the relevant Manufacturing Op Unit into a digital savvy organization that prioritizes the use of digital tools and MPS to deliver on its strategic commitments.
  • Keep our IT/OT operations stable, compliant, secure, and predictable, and demonstrate continuous improvement in our operational metrics, capabilities and processes.
  • Drive the relevant aspects of the Manufacturing Capital Expansion Program and ensure the successful delivery of all technology assets for each Manufacturing capital program, on-time, on-budget and in-full.
  • Maximize the value realization of all projects from the Digital Manufacturing portfolio by working closely with the delivery/ execution parts of the IT organization (e.g., Value Teams) and other supporting functions (e.g., Chief Technology Office, Technology, Infrastructure, Operations & Experience, IT Risk Management & Security, and Digital and Data Quality) across the full project delivery life cycle: from initial ideation and prioritization, through implementation, and into steady state operations.
  • Demonstrate excellent stewardship of our Company's resources (both people and financial), build financial plans that deliver on our Company's objectives and implement a culture of strong financial accountability across the team.
  • Focus our organization on the continuous improvement of our processes, motivate our teams to strive for agility, excellence, and compliance in everything we do and demonstrate our organizational commitment to Safety First and Quality Always through the leader's own personal actions and behaviors.
  • Actively participate as part of the IT Senior Leadership Network to contribute to the development of the overall IT strategy and assume personal accountability for the execution of all relevant aspects of the IT strategy at West Point.
  • Develop a visible and authentic external presence, and strong internal networks, to recruit highly skilled and diverse talent, stay current with industry trends, and establish effective vendor partnerships.
  • Maintain a specific focus on their own personal development, maintain a development plan and regularly update their skillsets through an active commitment to life-long learning.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in, information management, computer science, engineering, or other technical discipline

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience working, on-site, in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the technology enablement of manufacturing.
  • 15+ years of experience in technology-intensive manufacturing operations, or in IT/Automation leadership roles, in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Demonstrated success in driving technologically driven transformation programs, with a strong passion for digitally enabled manufacturing.
  • Delivery leadership - strong understanding of agile delivery models and/or lean-six-sigma approaches.
  • Drive for results - strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Collaborates effectively with and through others to achieve shared goals.
  • Communicates candidly and fluently in English - strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; adept at working with colleagues from diverse disciplines and at all levels of the company, articulating complex technical topics at the right level of detail for specific audiences.
  • Proven experience in team building, mentoring, and leadership with a demonstrated ability to inspire others to follow a common vision.
  • Proven ability to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively.
  • Strong quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Self-motivated, value-oriented with a mindset of continuous learning.
  • Ability to travel: potentially up to 20%.
