The Category Manager will be part of the Global Center of Excellence (CoE) procurement team for Site Services within the Animal Health Global Supplier Management teams. Our international team partners with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. As part of our global Category team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with talented and dedicated colleagues while developing and expanding your career. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and shape our sourcing strategies to drive business success.

The Category Manager will be actively engaged in the development and implementation of procurement strategy, global category management, contract management, risk management, stakeholder management, and supplier value management, within the Site Services space, which includes integrated facility management, MRO, energy supply, industrial gases, office supplies and furniture. In collaboration with stakeholders and regional procurement professionals,1/3/5 years strategic sourcing strategies for the Animal Health manufacturing locations are created and implemented. The Category Manager develops and maintains strong relationships internally (with key leaders and stakeholders, Finance, Legal, and other corporate functions), and externally, with suppliers that are typically global or international in nature.

Primary activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Category management: leads cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic source plans for one or more category areas
  • Proactive cost management: achieves cost control, cost reduction, and cost containment targets, and adds value to area of expenditure through a strong total cost orientation. In addition to savings, improve DPO, and manage IFM program for regions in scope, and develop strategies to mitigate supplier risk
  • Market knowledge and insight: uses thorough market knowledge and data analysis to gain critical insights that drive the selection of sourcing strategies, continuous improvement and process simplification activities
  • Expertise and practical experience in project management and supplier management: responsible for building and maintaining relationships with regional, global, and international suppliers and managing supplier performance against business requirements. Implement KPIs to manage overall performance.
  • Stakeholder management and business sponsorship: ensures appropriate stakeholders are identified and managed. Engages assigned stakeholders and partners with them to define and meet or exceed business requirements and identify and manage profit plan savings targets. Understands strategic business requirements at 1-3-5 years horizon.
  • Contract negotiation and management: once strategy is approved, personally leads -or directs others to lead- the sourcing including RFI, RFP, negotiations and contracting to put in place the right suppliers. Negotiates at tactical and strategic levels to develop regional or global company contracts.
  • Drive/lead the Sustainability and Diversity efforts for regions in scope
  • Regions in scope: North America (US, Canada), South America, Asia Pacific
  • Periodic domestic business travel to the Animal Health locations in North America will be required.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor's Degree and advanced degree in an engineering, or business administration

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, preferably within the animal health or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in managing global suppliers and leading cross-functional teams. Experienced in working in a matrix organization
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as the role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Proficiency in contract management, negotiation, risk management and supplier performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives. Financial acumen
  • Experience with relevant procurement software and tools, such as SAP Ariba or other procurement management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experienced in cost modelling.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Entrepreneurial and strategic mindset. Highly collaborative
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to deal with ambiguous and complex environments
  • Excellent proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI or equivalent
  • Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

Expected US salary range:
$91,600.00 - $144,100.00
