Job Description

We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) to deliver comprehensive care in the Symptom Care Clinic to meet the medical and psychosocial needs of our patients, implement and evaluate standards of care, and participate in research vital to establish outstanding, evidence-based care. The Symptom Care Clinics are an extension of the hospital’s urgent care center to provide care for oncological medical and surgical patients with acute or urgent symptoms

 

Location: Commack & Nassau Long Island NY

Hours:10 hr shifts (12p-10:00p) 16 shifts a month

Weekend and holiday rotation coverage required (8a-6p)

This position is open for experienced APPs only 

We Are:

The APP will join a team of over 900 NPs and PAs across MSK who are dedicated to delivering conscientious, expert and comprehensive cancer care to patients and families, supporting the mission, philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution and department.

You Are:

  • Driven individual who will apply innovative approaches to promote and grow MSK’s regional SCC/UCC program
  • Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes unpredictable
  • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Effective at gaining the support and dedication of others by engaging them around your point of view and priorities
  • Flexible in your approach and demeanor to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances

You Will:

  • Deliver comprehensive care including performing invasive procedures (i.e paracentesis) to medical – surgical oncology patients with urgent or acute symptoms in the regional urgent care
  • Participate as the lead of the  medical emergency response team
  • Collaborate with primary team and other healthcare team members
  • Support the patients in infusion, radiology and radiation oncology during evening hours and weekends for acute or urgent symptoms

Qualifications needed for a PA candidate are:

  • Graduate from an accredited PA program
  • NCCPA certification
  • Active NY & NJ licenses or willing/eligible to obtain both
  • A minimum of 2 years of related APP experience in Emergency, Critical Care or Intensive Care
  • BLS / ACLS certified

Qualifications needed for an NP candidate are:

  • Active NY & NJ Advanced Practice Nursing licenses/registrations or willing/eligible to obtain both
  • Nurse Practitioner MS Degree, prescriptive privileges (or eligibility)
  • 2+ years of related APP experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Intensive Care
  • BLS / ACLS certified
