Responsible for all business activities, including personnel, sales, promotions, special events, inventory, P&L and providing an exceptional shopping experience for all guests.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

Staffing and Personnel Management (50%)

  • Manage staff of 20 regulars and up to 20 seasonal employees.
  • Ability to creatively navigate significant labor market challenges to maintain staff retention.
  • Develop an annual compensation budget that supports our financial objectives.
  • Train and motivate staff to optimize store systems, guidelines, and operations to maximize sales goals.
  • Drive execution and maintain data integrity within team to drive Mattel POS and profit.
  • Develop and manage weekly hourly scheduling and coverage plans.
  • Establish daily priorities, schedules, and communicate with the team.
  • Provide on-going performance reviews, coaching and recognition to optimize targeted results.
  • Resolve performance issues through utilization of corporate resources to gain positive resolution.
  • Promote succession planning and career development through Mattel’s AP & CAP program.
  • Provide leadership and role modeling for high performance team.

Sales and Promotions (25%)

  • Develop a FY marketing and promotional calendar.
  • Oversee the creation of all advertising campaigns including marketing strategy, creative and execution of all print ads, e-blasts, social media, website design, and updates. 
  • Support Mattel special events including philanthropic, campus, comic con, brand events.
  • Manage the development and deployment of quarterly Charity Catalogs Sales.
  • Manage the weekly updating of the Promo Tool for sale prices and promotions.
  • Support Mattel’s key strategy with enhanced toy and licensed Franchise Marketing brand statements.
  • Provide early read data on Mattel new product launches.
  • Leverage the store as a visual merchandising test & learn lab.

Operations: (25%)

  • Develop proficiency in software applications and POS systems that are required to capture accurate store level data.
  • Maintain budget based on corporate guidelines and look for opportunities to increase efficiency.
  • Develop and track Open to Buy, inventory levels, pricing, sales, and margin to meet FY goals.
  • Manage inventory flow to support El Segundo Toy Store, Holiday Tent, Charities, Resale Orders, Conventions, Employee Wish List and Special Events.
  • Oversee inventory integrity, receiving, reports, on hands, shrink, adjustments and physical yearend inventory counts.
  • Oversee daily sales by reviewing and auditing cash registers, deposits and sales and inventory reports.
  • Assist with IT, POS terminal, store reports, and software challenges.

PREFERRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience preferred in retail management, sales or account buying position.
  • BS or BA degree in Business/ Management/Merchandising preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Physical requirements: climbing ladders up to twelve ft. tall, ability to lift 50 lbs., operate power tools (screwdriver & drill).

Qualifications

The annual base salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $87,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
