The Opportunity: 

We are looking for an Account Director to lead a multi-disciplined account management team for our Mattel Creations DTC, our premier adult collector business, our Shopper-Targeted DTC and the Mattel Masterbrand, about to celebrate our 80th anniversary and #1 toy company in the world.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

  • Leads integrated marketing communications pod, in tight collaboration with Global Brand Marketing, to drive end-to-end strategic thought leadership across all campaign, activation and asset development as the catalyst to inspire and unlock breakthrough work.
  • Participates in long-range planning to provide marketing communications expertise to build and drive traffic to the DTC business and drive awareness and affinity for the Mattel masterbrand.
  • Leads strategic and creative development of high complexity initiatives that require strong communication and daily collaboration with cross functional partners across Marketing, Design, eCommerce, Consumer Products, Production, Trade Show Services and PR.
  • Collaborates daily with brand marketing and cross-functional teams to maintain thorough understanding of the business, influencing and being influenced by current market, category, consumer and brand dynamics.
  • Collaborates with Creative Strategist to translate Marketing Briefs into compelling Creative Briefs that inspire rich, consumer-centric, idea-led territories that ignite cross-functional collaboration and ideation.
  • Provides strategic rigor to the implementation of the organizing idea across all tactics, ensuring integrity of all data inputs that align to overarching business objectives and KPIs.
  • Leads campaign, asset and activation development across owned and earned channels, including things like video content, CRM, web, paid and organic social, livestreams, pop up and virtual live events, retail, influencer content and collaborations.
  • Partners with Ecommerce performance marketing to lead comms plan, asset planning and development for Mattel Creations driven by business needs.
  • Leads development of seasonal Shopper-targeted pan-brand gifting campaigns and evergreen assets that drive traffic to our ecommerce site.
  • Leads strategic and creative direction for external agency partners to ensure clarity and consistency of direction, efficiency and effectiveness of resources and, ultimately, ensuring outcome meets business needs.
  • Partners with PR to drive consistent and compelling brand narratives that deliver measurable storytelling moments that align with business goals.
  • Partners with Platform Strategy team to maintain understanding of platform best practices and guidelines to apply to digital brand strategies, optimizing based on performance, trends and learning.
  • Oversees development of Digital Strategy across owned and operated social channels that reflect best practices and clear and actionable benchmarks per platform as advised by the Platform Strategy team.
  • Manages team responsible for development of social content calendar and production across owned channels that engages target audiences.
  • Partners with Marketing, Ecommerce, Project Management and Production team to build annual and season scopes of work and production budgets.
  • Partners with Project Management leadership to ensure that projects are delivered on time and on budget.
  • Works with VP to identify annual team resource requirements, department overhead budgets, and manage against business growth.
  • Forges paths for new initiatives by defining new and clear processes and clarity of roles & responsibilities to ensure team can proceed efficiently.
  • Leads development and presentation of regular updates to Senior and Executive leadership, as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in marketing or advertising, preferably with agency experience
  • Strategic thought leader with ability to understand business pain points from Executive team and Key Stakeholders across all functions
  • Highly analytical with ability to distill complex concepts into succinct solutions
  • Depth of understanding of industry, category, and media landscape
  • Strong interpersonal skills that encourage cooperation and problem solving
  • Possess a growth mindset, positive attitude and a passion to succeed in a fast-paced, matrixed organization

The annual base salary range for this position is between $170,000 and $205,000
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
