Job Description
The Opportunity:
For our Copenhagen, Denmark office, we are looking for an Associate Key Account Manager. In this role, you build, manage and develop long-term business partnerships with established and key local retailers in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Key responsibilities include business development to achieve revenue and profit goals while increasing the presence of Mattel’s iconic brands. You will be a key contributor in the planning, management and execution of the business for Mattel in Europe.

Key Responsibilities:
Customer Facing
- Manage day-to day retailer relationship & drive business cycle with key decision makers
- Provide rationale and engage external & internal stakeholders for prospective business relationship
- Collaborate with customer stakeholders to ensure listings, product availability and activation of the Mattel range on the site
- Manage customer investment negotiations for various activations in the addressable countries as needed
- Drive Joint Business Planning initiatives and work with key partners such as Disney, Universal and Warner.
- Represent the company during trade fairs and showroom visits including LA Toy Fair and Nuremburg Toy Fair.
Product Forecasting and replenishment
- Drive Collaborative Forecasting process: including monthly
- quantity forecasting for a large portfolio of brands and products.
- Near-term turnover forecasting on a weekly basis for submission to management.
- Engage with Customer Service to inform buyers about product availability and delivery timings.
- Focus and collaborate with Supply Chain in order to develop optimal fulfillment processes for the customer portfolio.
Strategy
- Core contributor in the ongoing evolution and implementation of the Go to Market strategy together with cross-functional teams (marketing, digital, supply chain, IT)
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of retailers’ and toy market dynamics.
- Identify shopper and retail trends for business growth and implement initiatives and action plans.
- Collaborate with Brand and Shopper Marketing to evolve Mattel’s Retail presence and activation into being increasingly more consumer centric and brand led.
Trade Marketing & Activity Planning
- Plan and execute customer marketing activities and promotions in collaboration with the Shopper Marketing and Brand Activation teams.
- Collaborate with the Shopper Marketing team to increase the impact and ROI of activation.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- In collaboration with the analytics teams, monitor KPIs in order to deliver on objectives and accelerate business growth and take corrective action steps when the implementation KPIs fail to adhere with target.
Financial
- Sales and spending forecast.
- Manage and track the allocated budget & maintain the respective audit trails.
- Deliver on revenue and profit targets.
Management and leadership
- Represent Mattel externally illustrating it’s an industry leader with strong brands
- Together with the rest of the team, act as a center of competence and expertise of retail trends & dynamics towards the rest of the organization.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- University degree in Economics, Business Administration or related field (Bachelor/ Master/ Diploma).
- 4 Years of experience in sales, at least 2 years’ experience with managing key accounts
- Selling & negotiation skills in international environment, preferably acquired in an international/global company with high seasonality.
- Fluent in English, other Scandinavian languages considered a plus, preferred Danish.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills
- Attention to detail and process affinity
- Strong follow-up and prioritization skills
- Highly competitive mindset & Business results-oriented: ability to perform and manage forecasts
- Ability to work in a wide variety of projects with tight deadlines
- Ability to operate within a matrix business environment and handle diverse audiences
- A confident and articulate communicator capable of inspiring strong collaboration within an organization
