Junior Software Development Engineer (Launcher)

Summary:

Within the D&S Technology Team, the Targeting Analytics program is a relatively new program that is comprised of a rich set of products that provide accurate perspectives on Credit Risk, Portfolio Optimization, and Ad Insights.
We analyze datasets with billions of transactions using Big Data technologies including Spark, Hive, and Impala, to create a scalable high-performance platform. Client-facing applications are written in React/ Java or C# and provide data visualization and data-driven insights.
Engineers work in small, flexible teams. Every team member contributes to designing, building, and testing features. The range of work you will encounter varies from building intuitive, responsive UIs to designing backend data models, architecting data flows, and beyond. There are no rigid organizational structures, and each team uses processes that work best for its members and projects.

Responsibilities:

As a Software Engineer I, you will have the opportunity to:
- work with engineers from both full stack teams, that works on client-facing applications and data pipeline team, that automates pipeline and does data analysis using Python.
- write high-quality code with a focus on scalability, design, and maintainability.
- collaborate across teams with exceptional peers who are passionate about what they do.
- continuously innovate and determine new approaches, tools, techniques, and technologies to solve business problems.

Qualifications:

- Project-based experience (personal, academic, internship) in one or more object-oriented programming languages (preferably Java, C#) or Python, JavaScript.
- Familiarity using relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
- Exposure to source control management (e.g., git), deployment, and task management tools.
- Experience writing automated tests to verify code correctness and expected behavior.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with common debugging tools and information to diagnose issues such as stack traces, memory profiling, code tracing, etc.
