Title and Summary

Senior Database Engineer

Overview
• Responsible for defining and maintaining the data architecture and associated data maintenance, integration and load processes for the organization

Responsibilities
• Identifies and selects appropriate technologies, develops, builds, maintains and tests database technologies, including associated software products
• Supports the development of SQL tuning statement procedures to optimize SQL tuning and query development
• Supports database security posture which includes escalating potential concerns, and implementing both risk mitigation plans and control functions
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable database solutions in AWS cloud environments.
• Optimize ETL processes using AWS Glue and AWS Lambda, SNS, AWS DMS, for data ingestion, transformation, and loading into Redshift.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Implement and manage data pipelines and workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards and industry regulations.
• Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Propose and implement active monitoring system making an alert and troubleshooting notification and solution more efficient.
• Optimize the performance and system scalability of the ETL processes, data storage and database tuning to re-optimize the system and improve the overall performance.
• Document the changes and processes, with detailed architecture diagrams and description of the processes.

Experiences
• Gains exposure to automation and/or cloud delivery effort
• Knowledge in AWS cloud infrastructure and services for databases implementation and optimization.
• Experience with databases on Aurora, Postgresql and MySQL.
• Practical experience in the ETL development.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Glue, AWS Redshift, AWS DMS, AWS Lambda, Amazon EventBridge, Queues, S3, etc.
• SQL skills and experience in database design, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Experience in at least one scripting languages (Python, SQL, PySpark)
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements.

Optional:
• AWS Data Analytics certification, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Big Data or AWS Certified Database - Specialty , ideally.
• Experience with other data integration and ETL tools apart from AWS Glue.
