• The EMV & Digital Devices Team is looking for a cryptographer to work in the security team that manages the cryptographic design and architecture of innovative payment solutions. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, technology-savvy individual who is highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and enjoys the challenge of creating and managing payment solutions that have impact on a global scale.
Roles and Resposibilities:
• You will work in a small team responsible for the cryptography and security of Mastercard chip card applications and support for related technologies, e.g. mobile and cloud.
• You will conduct on-going risk analyses for chip card payments on a global scale, balancing security with ease-of-use and in an evolving technical and regulatory landscape.
• You will design and maintain security requirements and solutions to address card payment fraud risk whether actual, anticipated or reputational. The requirements must cater for a global ecosystem of diverse interoperating payment methods and regional regulations and will need to be flexible to support a range of evolving performance, security, and reliability needs.
• You will work as part of a larger chip team to create payment solutions through the full life cycle of development - from ideation, to proof-of-concept development, security evaluation, to ensure the design being technically proven and commercially viable. You will deliver specifications and supporting documents that help our customers and partners to develop and deploy the technology and provide best-in-class payment solutions.
• You will be an ambassador for our payment solutions and be ready to provide insight to other Mastercard teams.
• You will engage with industry and cross-industry experts at a global level representing the security of Mastercard chip card payments and participating in the international standardization of cryptography for payments security, especially through bodies such as EMVCo.
All about you
• A university degree in Mathematics or Computer Science, preferably with MSc or PhD.
• Comfortable with research level cryptography including RSA, ECC and PQC.
• Good understanding of random number generation, probability theory, quantum physics and quantum computing.
• Programming experience, preferably with smart card or HSM cryptography or work experience with exposure to implementation quality engineering processes.
• Knowledge and/or experience with network infrastructure and technology a plus.
• Fluent English spoken and written. Good presentational and arguing skills. Great communicator with proven experience in collaborating with business stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams and external partners in a global team environment.
• Enjoy collaborating with a diverse and global team while working independently towards a goal. Enjoy solving technical challenges and working in a fast-paced evolving industry. Prepared for International travel.
