Title and Summary
Associate Analyst, Legal Compliance
Job Summary: The Associate Analyst - Transaction Monitoring, reporting to the Senior Analyst, is responsible for reviewing Sanction Screening, Fraud, and AML alerts to determine their validity. This includes identifying high-risk transactional activities, potential structuring attempts, and high-value cash movements across borders. The role involves reviewing alerts for PEPs, potential sanctions match, and beneficial ownership, ensuring timely reporting of suspicious transactions, and maintaining proper record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities:
• Sanction Screening / Fraud / AML Alert Remediation (80%):
oInvestigate and assess real-time and post-transaction alerts.
oIdentify and resolve suspicious activities.
oCoordinate with agents, partners, and clients for due diligence.
oReport suspicious transactions and matches with watchlists.
oCollaborate with Senior Compliance Analysts and Regional Compliance Officers.
oMaintain knowledge of money laundering and terrorist financing issues.
oIdentify procedural weaknesses and training needs.
oHandle money laundering queries from banks, agents, or partners.
oEnsure proper record-keeping.
• Subject Matter Expertise and Continuing Education (10%):
oMaintain knowledge of financial activities and regulatory developments.
oImplement appropriate AML operational procedures.
• Additional Duties and Compliance Responsibilities (10%):
oAssist the Transaction Monitoring Team Leader with ad-hoc requests.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
• Professional Experience:
o0 to 3 years in Transaction Monitoring, with emphasis on Sanction Screening, Fraud, and AML.
• Educational Qualifications:
oBachelor's degree in business/commerce or related field of study
oAML certifications like CAMS are a plus.
• Interpersonal Skills:
oExcellent communication skills.
oAbility to work under pressure and handle issues diplomatically.
oWillingness to work on a shifting schedule.
oAdditional language skills (Urdu, Arabic, Bangla, Nepali, Indian regional languages) are desirable.
• Technical/AML Skills:
oExperience in analyzing international money transfer activities.
oKnowledge of AML "red flags" and fraud prevention.
oProficiency in automated transaction monitoring systems.
oUnderstanding of money remittance products and services.
