The Impact
Daily and monthly responsibilities - What your days and weeks will include.
State Income Tax Compliance
- Responsible for the preparation, review, and processing of the annual state income tax filings (for insurance and non-insurance entities) and associated compliance in coordination with our outsourcing partners
- Primary role on state and local tax audits and notices from state related to state income tax
- Ensure accuracy of and compliance with tax calendar and internal controls
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state tax developments
- Provide information and support to business areas
- Advise on non-routine transactions impacting state filings, including acquisitions and dispositions
- Prepare, review and approve journal entries
- Prepare, review and approve General Ledger Reconciliations
- Assist with state legislative and regulatory initiatives
- Develop a strong working relationship with internal and external clients, including vendor relationships
Non-Income Tax Compliance
- Guaranty Fund compliance
- Preparation / Review of Annual State Premium Tax Returns
- Assistance with issues related to Property Tax and Sales & Use Tax in coordination with our outsourcing partners
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
- 8+ years of Corporate Income Tax and/or Accounting experience
- 4+ years State and Local Income Tax experience
The Ideal Qualifications
- CPA or MST highly desirable
- Strong computer skills, including tax compliance software (Corptax), GL systems (SAP) and research software (CCH)
- 10+ years of Corporate Income Tax and/or Accounting experience
- 5+ years state and local income tax experience
- Working knowledge and experience related to insurance premium tax a plus
- Working knowledge and experience related to sales and use tax and/or property tax a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong time and project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to identify issues and recommend effective solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred

Salary Range: $107,700.00-$141,300.00
