The Opportunity

As a critical member of the Investment Pricing Team , the pricing analyst will work with multiple Corporate Units, Lines of Business (LOBs), Investment Managers, and subsidiaries to provide oversight, analysis and complex processing of pricing for various investments related to MassMutual and its portfolio. The analyst will work with members of the Program Management Office for Investments (PMOfI) to assist in formulating and defining business and/ or systems scope, requirements, and objectives as it relates to designing Derivative pricing valuation. The individual will also apply finance, investment accounting knowledge and other technical skills to provide oversight related to the current and future state needs of Mass Mutual.

The Team

The analyst will report to the Director of the Investment Pricing, a part of MassMutual Investment Operations Team within the Investment Management Division. The team is responsible for the investment pricing including derivatives, public and private securities, CMLs and Real Estate Equity related to the MassMutual's General Investment Account (GIA). The team is diligently working on several projects which will enhance our current operating model, create efficiencies, and limit any manual input. As part of these changes the Investment Pricing team will be gathering business requirements, developing, and implementing validation policies across both the derivatives and fixed income landscape.

The Impact:
  • Work independently and with management on high visible, divisional/cross-divisional complex projects
  • Assist in developing the pricing and valuation functions within the Derivative Ecosystem
  • Advise Investment Management and Asset Pricing Policy Committee as it relates to designing and maintaining derivative pricing valuation methodologies
  • Work with vendor to assist in set up of pricing and required data feeds from both internal functional areas / applications as well as external market data sources (e.g. S&P, LSEG, JPM)
  • Assist the asset valuation specialist in aligning enterprise risk and front office function from a data input and risk perspective as inputs to pricing models
  • Assist in aspects of complex transactions and new mandates
  • Assist in implement new regulations
  • Analysis for pricing discrepancy between vendors and or Counterparties/Brokers
  • Work in conjunction with team members, internal and external business partners to research and accommodate new products traded by the investment manager
  • Advances the interest of the company by serving on teams that are external to the organization when appropriate
  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility
  • Anticipates change, looks for trends and directs or redirects efforts
  • Assists in the periodic audits both internally and externally.


The Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of investment operations/pricing experience with an understanding of systems and data management.
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Understanding of a wide range of asset classes and how investment information for such asset classes is used.
  • Ability to work with the asset valuation specialist to analyze issues and assist in resolution.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to address and resolve conflicts diplomatically.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment that has tight deadlines, especially around high volume and critical times
