The Opportunity

As the Investment Management Data Operations Consultant, you will play a critical role in a fast paced, complex, and collaborative environment, where you will apply your investment knowledge and technical skills as member of Investment Data Operations and Analysis team. Under the guidance of the Investment Data Operations Director, you will provide integral support to the users of the Investment Data Ecosystem including, issue triage and resolution, support of the reporting and close processes, and the testing of new vendor functionality. You will understand the importance of Investment Data Operations and Analysis and look for opportunities to continuously improve processes. The nature of the work will require perseverance, accountability, attention to detail and the ability to react to everchanging business needs.

The Team

The Investment Data Operations and Analysis team oversees the daily set up processing of the security master data, positions, transactions, and analytics for all assets in MassMutual's General Investment Account (GIA). The team partners closely with Security Operations, Investment Management Reporting, Investment and Tax Accounting and Enterprise Risk Management to address and resolve data related issues.

The Impact:
  • Responsible for monitoring and addressing intake queues to triage and resolve issues timely
  • Support investment accounting close process and daily operational governance providing expertise and guidance
  • Ownership of operational processes for commitment reporting
  • Focus on Critical Data Elements, ensuring data is in good order, working with business partners to resolve, track trends and escalate recurring issues
  • Point of escalation for complex reconciliation breaks from Trade Operations team
  • Daily interaction with vendors for prioritization and testing of issues and improvements
  • Communicate and collaborate with external partners and asset managers to implement new processes to support mandate objectives
  • Support metrics for monthly reporting


The Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years experience of investment operations across all asset types
  • 3+ years experience in Eagle STAR or like Investment Accounting platform


The Ideal Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related area
  • Knowledge of Eagle PACE or like Data Management Tool
  • Expert user of excel and proficient with SQL/Oracle query tools
  • Cognos, Microstrategy, or other reporting tool experience a plus
  • Effective time management skills and the ability prioritize multiple initiatives is essential.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and tolerance for navigating ambiguity
  • Desire to learn and ability to apply learnings to business issues
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, Comfortable interacting with vendors, business partners, external managers and internal Investment and IT teams
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment
