Indirect Tax Manager

Job Description:

Together with the Team, you play a critical role and are responsible for overseeing and managing indirect tax operations. With emphasis on governance and control, controversy to compliance and reporting, you leverage your tax technical knowledge to mitigate risks as well as identifying opportunities for the organization. You will manage and support day-to-day activities to allow the Senior Indirect Tax manager and Director to work at a macro level.

As a member of the Global Tax Organization, you are responsible for driving effective indirect tax advisor service to all the businesses in the U.S. and collaborate with various stakeholders. You are a key contributor in transforming tax processes and translating knowledge into actionable insights. This role is a member of Global Compliance & Reporting leadership team, actively participates in creating an engaging and collaborative team environment, develops compliance & reporting practices and manages a team of direct reports.

What are we looking for?

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university required
  • Certified Public Accountant license or Enrolled Agent license encouraged


Knowledge / Experience


  • 6-10+ years of indirect tax experience, including sales and use tax, real estate tax, personal property tax, with some public accounting experience preferred;
  • Large corporate multinational tax environment experience indirect tax compliance & controversy resolution;
  • Understanding of various Business Systems and/or process (Avalara, Coupa, Ariba, SAP, Oracle) with implementation support experience preferred;
  • Experience in tax process development and digital transformation preferred;
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional teams and influence stakeholders;
  • Experience working within a team environment, including with teams in various geographic locations;
  • Proficiency in data analytics software (Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI, Tableau) with implementation experience preferred.
  • Experience using applications such as Microsoft SharePoint, Excel, Teams, Power Automate preferred;

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Lead in developing, implementing indirect tax strategy and best practice framework for the organization with Senior Tax Manager;
  • Lead the transformation of tax processes by cultivating tax technology;
  • Lead indirect tax data analytics and leveraging into actionable insights to provide proper governance and controls;
  • Oversee the integration and successfully transition into our indirect tax service model;
  • Coordinate and support U.S. businesses in new markets, implementation of Business Systems such as ERP and tax engines;
  • Serve as a liaison and actively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive effective business support for all U.S. business units;
  • Evaluate existing tax systems, processes, historical tax filing positions and data to identify risk and opportunities;
  • Identifying opportunities for tax savings or efficiencies relating to indirect tax;
  • Manage and coordinate with state and local authorities for tax audits and notices;
  • Manage U.S. compliance and reporting such as property tax, sales and use tax, and gross receipts;
  • Manage routine tasks such as, but not limited to, tax exemption certificates, tax matrices, nexus review;
  • Monitor tax policy and research tax issues that impacts organization;
  • Be skilled in relationship building, nurturing team member strengths and identifying areas for improvement, and representing and advocating for tax team needs;
