Mars Petcare is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist (CIS) to join our exciting pet food business at a manufacturing plant in Victorville, CA. We focus our attention on the unique needs of cats and dogs. That obsession with detail allows us to deliver precise, effective nutrition and help them become their magnificent best.

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist is responsible for leading loss elimination within an MSE team and is critical to supporting all MSE pillars, specifically FMOS, FI and AM. The CI Specialist is expected to develop the operating teams' technical understanding and mastery of process control and area operation and to support all Daily Management Systems (DMS) owners.

CI Specialists are an integral part of the FMOS CP2/DDS meetings, own integrity of data systems, and lead process definition to identify Centerline targets and document standards. They also develop control strategies to enable operators to respond to out-of-control situations, analyze line data to identify and prioritize loss elimination opportunities, lead root cause problem-solving efforts on key chronic losses for their area of responsibility, and coach teams on Centerline DMS execution and problem-solving skills. CI Specialists must effectively facilitate team meetings, communicate issues within an area and across shifts, and follow up on actions. CI Specialists should be considered subject matter experts on their equipment's functional-technical aspects and AM Pillar DMSs.

What are we looking for?

Education & Professional Qualifications

• Associate degree in Engineering, Supply, Business, or technical field of study with at least two years experience in a TPM manufacturing environment, Bachelors preferred

OR

• Four years experience in manufacturing with TPM participation or AM/Autonomous Work Team experience

Physical Requirements:

• Lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.).

• Pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.).

• Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Actively participates in daily FMOS meetings. Provides performance data for selected machines and effectively communicates action plans and completed work.
  • Understand MSE pillars, with a specific focus on AM, FI and FMOS, with the ability to coach in these areas.
  • Perform AM DMS Health Checks. Act on identified Line Health Check gaps.
  • Facilitates and owns the Line Loss Analysis. Gather, interpret, and report data on problem issues. Maintain trend analysis.
  • Expert for the line organization's AM DMSs (Centerline - CL, Clean Inspect Lubricate - CIL, Abnormality Handling - AH, and 5S) and Changeover Daily Management Systems.
  • Leads root cause problem-solving efforts on losses for the line/department. Uses appropriate problem-solving tools (basic and advanced) as needed.
  • Works with Shift Managers and team to ensure that all Line and Departmental metrics are achieved.
  • Train and develop associates across teams, building team capability in areas of expertise.
  • Leads and launches MSE/Process improvement teams (Kaizen Events)
  • Owns the data collection for the systems of their Area of responsibility
  • Analyzes the data and makes recommendations to the Continuous Improvement Engineer or Area Manager to support the creation of Continuous Improvement plans
  • Partners with Shift Managers to deliver training strategy for Area Operators
  • Other Job duties as assigned
  • Supports Area through expert problem-solving, loss analysis, and troubleshooting.

Total rewards at Mars includes base pay, competitive benefits, and annual bonus (if position is eligible). The full-time pay range for this role is:
USD 68,292.00 - USD 102,438.00
