Job Description:

The Associate Director, MSE (Supply Excellence) / Maintenance Transformation - ("Corp PM Pillar Leader") leads the Mars Petcare North America (MPCNA) Maintenance improvement and standardization efforts in manufacturing, supporting all NA sites in achieving expected business KPIs. This position requires the ability to lead and manage the development of a maintenance strategy that transforms maintenance departments into a unified organization focused on TPM/Continuous Improvement, standardization, and training.

Responsibilities include successfully implementing the PM Pillar and Maintenance core foundations across all North American Pet Food Nutrition plants and the corporate office. This role serves as a change agent and coach for Site Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Reliability Managers, divisional SMEs, and the extended leadership network, ensuring effective deployment and execution. Strong communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills are essential to foster engagement within the maintenance community and support company objectives.

Location:

Must be at least a 2 hours drive from any of our factory locations and close to a large airport.

Franklin, TN, Columbus OH, Mattoon IL , Leipsic OH, Fort Smith AR, Columbia SC, Kansas City MO, Temple TX.

What are we looking for?

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, basic sciences or business-related disciplines required.
  • Ability to travel 70% (3 weeks per month)
  • Advanced degree in Engineering preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in a maintenance experience
  • 5+ years in a maintenance and manufacturing leadership role
  • Food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
  • Successful experience in implementing Total Performance Management (TPM) and CI across multiple plants for a PM pillar or entire CI or TPM program
  • Strong analytical mindset, project management, and change management experience

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Lead the Mars Petcare North America (MPCNA) maintenance improvement and standardization strategy, supporting all MPCNA sites in achieving business KPIs.
  • Lead the development of a maintenance strategy aimed at transforming maintenance departments into a unified organization focused on continuous improvement, standardization, and training.
  • Lead the corporate Progressive Maintenance Pillar and all Maintenance fundamentals as part of the "Mars Supply Excellence" Initiatives (MSE).
  • Develop and maintain an up-to-date Supply Excellence strategy and implementation plan concerning PM and its foundations to support each site, including the headquarters, in achieving their goals, initiatives, and metrics on Maintenance cost optimization, Performance Improvement, and overall Waste Reduction.
  • Ensure alignment of the PM pillar implementation plan with leadership to support the Company Master Plan and adhere to the MSE/TPM methodology.
    • Take responsibility for implementing and leading the PM pillar across a 14-site network and establish a network of strong SMEs/pillar owners in each site to drive change.
    • Implement a process to ensure effective best practice sharing and accelerate mutual progress.
    • Promote the integration of corporate/Maintenance initiatives to drive a unified agenda for all types of Performance Improvement (TRS and OEE) and Cost Optimization.
    • Drive productivity and efficiency gains by reducing Machine downtime and losses to contribute to yearly cost optimization, productivity, and critical OEE goals.
    • Benchmark internally and externally, aiming to exceed recognized industry best practices/World Class standards.
    • Act as a key partner in selecting, training, and managing resources within the Operations and Plants PM Pillar leads.
    • Develop a capability-building strategy and training solutions to advance critical competences across the workforce and foster a continuous improvement culture across all organizational levels.
    • Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing systems that optimize all phases of the manufacturing process and support key business objectives (waste, labor, reliability, ATS, line capacity, etc.).
    • Ensure associates receive operational and technical training to perform standardized work within given time frames.
    • Establish a standard, effective communication system to schedule PMs and improvements.
    • Ensure consistency in PMs, spare parts, training, and SOPs for all critical equipment common across our network of North American facilities.
