The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer for Reference Data Technology to oversee and manage the reference data function within MarketAxess. This position involves developing and implementing reference data strategies, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, and providing guidance on data governance and management practices. The Lead Software Engineer of Reference Data Technology will work closely with various stakeholders, such as data analysts, business units, and technology teams, to ensure effective data operations and support the organization's overall Reference data needs.
How You'll Help Take Us There
- Responsible for delivery of comprehensive reference data strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, consistency, accessibility, data accuracy and completeness.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in reference data management.
- Collaborate with data stewards and data owners to ensure adherence to data management practices.
- Oversee the collection, validation, and maintenance of reference data across the organization.
- Work with technology teams to optimize reference data systems, tools, and workflows.
- Collaborate with business units to understand their reference data requirements and provide guidance on data-related matters.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to stakeholders on reference data-related queries.
- Provide technical leadership and hands on day-to-day solutions to agile teams, preparing the design artifacts and implementation of solutions.
- Collaborating with peer architects seeing opportunities to refactor business processes, improve customer experience or perform capability rationalization.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the reference data team.
- Work closely with Product/Application teams in technology evaluation, selection, recommendation, and configuration.
What We’re Looking for
- Leadership experience, including managing teams and driving organizational change.
- 10+ years of industry experience in an architecture and/or software engineering role.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective, trusting partnerships with product managers, architects and technical leads for individual products and applications.
- Solid experience in reference data management, data governance, or related fields.
- Solid understanding of data management principles, data quality concepts, and data governance frameworks.
- Proficiency in data management tools, databases, event driven systems, and data modeling techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrable ability to analyze business direction and problems, understand long term vision and risk in developing strategic solutions.
- Authoritative understanding of the agile development process and DevOps practices.
- Strong presentation skills; written and verbal communication including the ability to influence.
- Deep knowledge of the agile development process and DevOps practices.

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $200,000 USD to $260,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
