The Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer, Associate to join the MKTX Bond Calcs team who has a passion for financial calculations and an expertise in Core Java. This person will work closely with various stakeholders, such as calcs analysts, business units, and technology teams, to ensure effective data operations and support the organization's overall data needs.  

You should be passionate about technology, software engineering, code quality, code testability, and innovatively addressing business problems. You will work with the team to collaborate on software solutions and architecture and ensure exceptional software engineering practices, and good documentation. It's essential to be willing to take on new skills to meet the shifting demands of accelerating our modernization efforts.

How You'll Help Take Us There

• Design and develop high performance and scalable bond calculation systems and services both on-prem and in the Cloud (AWS) 
• Analyze and implement bond calculation functions for both Domestic, EU, and Emerging Markets (e.g. price, yield, spread, discount margin, accrued interest, etc.). 
• Design and develop systems to manage Bond Reference Data. 
• Collaborate with product managers to align data development with overall product goals. 
• Define and enforce coding standards and best practices within the team and across the organization. 

What We’re Looking for  

• 2+ year of experience within software engineering, preferably with prior Java experience 
• Strong mathematical aptitude 
• Basic SQL Query Skills (Microsoft SQL, Oracle SQL) 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-pace, dynamic environment  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams  
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject 
• Experience with Agile methodologies and working in Agile teams 
• Interest in Financial Markets 
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States permanently without employment visa sponsorship required now or in the future 

Additional Qualifications 

• Prior Fixed Income product/analytics knowledge 
• Working experience in AWS cloud native services and Enterprise or cloud-based DBMS such as Oracle and SQL Server  
• Experience with Java ecosystem software such as Spring Boot, Junit 
• Prior experience decomposing monolith into microservices and containers

For job positions in NYC, NY, and other locations where required, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $95,000 USD to $125,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. You may also be eligible for annual cash incentives, equity, and other benefit programs.
