Our client, operates in the motorsports and automotive racing industry is seeking a Calibration Development Engineer to join their team.

Job Title: Calibration Development Engineer

Location: Santa Clarita, CA

Pay Range: $43 - $48

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Perform engine calibration testing on a dynamometer. 

  • Conduct engine data analysis and HIL/MIL testing, including embedded strategy development and testing as well as pre-calibration tasks. 

  • Develop powertrain and hybrid systems, including performance analysis, sizing studies, and control strategies development.

  • Provide trackside support, including track data analysis and on-track support for the race team. 

Minimum Experience: 

  • 5 years of experience in powertrain development and testing, including test planning, procedure writing, data acquisition, and analysis. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • B.S. degree (or equivalent work experience) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on internal combustion engines or electrified powertrains. 

  • Relevant coursework in fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. 

Must-Have Skills: 

  • Internal combustion engine physics – Strong understanding of combustion and thermodynamics. 

  • Mechanical components & system controls – Knowledge of embedded strategy development and system controls. 

  • Dynamometer experience – Hands-on experience with AVL tool suite, PUMA, Concerto, and Indicom. 

  • Coding & Scripting – Familiarity with MATLAB/Simulink, Python (nice to have), or VBA (nice to have). 

  • Electrical systems – Basic understanding of MGU (Motor Generator Unit), control units, and batteries. 

  • Vehicle dynamics – Basic knowledge to interpret lap time simulations. 

  • This role requires a highly skilled and technical engineer with expertise in engine calibration, powertrain testing, and hybrid system development.
