JOB SUMMARY:

A self-directed leader who supports, and prioritizes the activities of their assigned manufacturing team, including temporary employees. Ensures that products produced meet the customer needs in the areas of cost, quality and delivery. Ensures that a safe work environment is always maintained. Participates / leads continuous improvement and problem-solving activities in support of the MAFACT Production System. Accountable to Operations Manager for schedule attainment, yield and labor for each cell within his/her shift. Schedules production based on customer demand and finished goods inventory management. Works in conjunction with the Materials and Operation Teams to ensure component inventory levels supports that of the customer demand. Responsible for accuracy of Finished Goods Inventory.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties listed below will be performed at both levels within the progression with increasing independence and emphasis on unique situations and program development. Work is performed under minimal supervision and work direction. Functioning as a highly competent Scheduler and Production Supervisor, work requires a higher degree of judgment and independent decision making involving more complex issues. Provides training, guidance, and work direction to level I Supplier Scheduler and motivates team toward departmental goals and objectives.

  • Quality- Makes quality control decisions based on established quality standards and checks. Identifies opportunities for common mistake proofing. Understands quality control plans. Accurately tracks and measures defects and performs a defect analysis. Ensures standardized work is followed and maintained.
  • Communication- Effectively communicates performance in all aspects of the business including, but not limited to Policy, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Equity, Productivity and General Focus Factory Communications, during pre-shift meetings and team meetings.
  • Safety/5S- Corrects or commends health and safety performance in work area and takes immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or actions. Ensures employees are appropriately trained in recognizing hazards associated and specific to their job. Completes safety inspections on a routine basis and ensures compliance with all Health and Safety as well as ISO14001 policies and procedures. Leads accident/incident investigations. Assists in conducting risk assessment on new and/or modified equipment and/or processes.
  • Staffing- Through subordinate Team Leaders, responsible for weekly staffing of work cells based on customer demand / weekly schedule in accordance with materials team. Staffs work cells with trained personnel to meet "takt time". Maintains vacation, overtime, off-line training and relief schedules
  • Leadership- Development of employees using established training and training matrices. Presents new information to large and small groups. Administers and applies company policy consistently and fairly. Has the ability to hire/fire and discipline employees. Provides constructive feedback to all employees regularly through performance reviews. Establishes individual development plans by determining needed skills and knowledge. Participates in the hiring of new employees by interviewing candidates effectively and legally. Develops team competence using EOS improvement activities. Responsible for maintaining and developing team morale.
  • Continuous Improvement- Responsible for continuous improvement for customer concerns, on time delivery through schedule attainment, quality, scrap reduction, safety and morale. Leads teams through problem solving process, documents issues and identifies solutions that prevent recurrence. Supports Continuous Improvement team in the performance and completion of time studies of operation while developing and performing, with the team, work sequence, standardized work and takt time charting.
  • Materials- Creates internal build schedules and utilizes customer systems for appropriate labeling and notification while monitoring customer demand to ensure material coverage supports production schedules. Identifies, establishes, maintains, and monitors appropriate inventory levels of finished goods and communicates requirements via production schedule to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Coordinates engineering change orders, phase in of new products, and discontinuation of old products while minimizing obsolete inventory. Monitors inventory records for respective area and ensures corrective action as needed.
  • Goal Management- Tracks and evaluates performance measurables against safety, quality, cost and delivery goals. Executes appropriate action plans to meet or exceed goals. Alerts management team of significant variations of goals and expectations to prevent surprises through corrective action, desired performance and proactive communication.
  • EHS - Performs all work in compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all federal, State and local laws; promptly report any hazardous condition or workplace injury to immediate supervisor or EHS designate.
  • General- Serves as a Materials team representative on new program teams and reports changes to affected work team members. Supervises and/or provides work direction to other staff while holding them accountable to meeting goals in performance and delivery. Performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree and one year of related work experience, or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of interacting professionally at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to understand business operations, connect them to work priorities, and resolve related issues.
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, including staff development and goal achievement.
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate team toward goals of a moderate-term focus.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Completion of required training in MagNET, as per the EHS Training Matrix and "Operations Manager" guidelines.
  • English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standing and walking 75%; sitting 25%
  • Loud production floor environment. Hearing protection strongly recommended.
  • Willing and able to work 7 days per week, 10-12 hour shifts, during periods of peak customer demand.
