About the Role

The Robot Programmer will be responsible for completing the setup and installation of robots from a single robot to multiple robot cells. Successful candidates will possess programming capability, as well as have demonstrated experience with good troubleshooting and startup support. Promoting good communication within the robotic department as well as other departments to ensure a quality product is essential. The Robotics Programmer will ensure all equipment is in a working order and will assist and train other robot techs as required.

Your Responsibilities

The role involves but is not limited to:-

Program robot paths, set up program structure and implement offline programming

Configure robot IO (Input / Output), weld interface and program call

Set up structure for robot programs

Develop and control program structure as jobs progress

Work on Robot drawings and configurations

Train and work with other programmers to enhance skill level

Read and interpret electrical blue prints, schematics and specifications

Operate various tools and equipment including precision equipment (testers), megger, scope

Work closely with Robotic Supervisor regarding projects, monitoring workload and deadlines

Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy

Program, troubleshoot and maintain industrial robotic systems

Collaborate with engineer and production staff to understand and define programming requirements.

Develop robot programs using native programming languages.

Collaborate with the automation team to integrate robots into existing manufacturing systems.

Test and validate robot programmes to ensure proper functionality and performance.

Identify and resolve programming issues, including de-bugging and optimisation.

Document programming processes, procedures, and changes for reference and training purposes.

Stay up to date with latest industry trends, technologies and best practices in robot programming.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Qualified to a minimum HNC level or equivalent in Manufacturing /Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in programming robots
  • Hands-on experience programming robots ABB / Kuka / Fanuc
  • Good understanding of IO, transfer of information between Robot and PLC, and PLC functionality
  • Good understanding of robot program flow and basic programming theories
  • Knowledge of ISO 10218-1 and ISO 10218-2 robotic safety standards and how they apply
  • Experience in robotic spot welding, mig welding, material handling is required
  • Practical experience and good understanding of electrical circuitry and wiring
  • Sound mechanical ability to work on robot dress packages and peripheral equipment
  • Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and Autocad
  • Proven ability and willingness to train and lead others
