SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality Engineer is responsible for the promotion and enforcement of quality standards within the Customer base as defined in the MSSC manual with an emphasis on the development of continuous improvement and quality performance.

Job Security
• Maintain proper records and backup documentation.
• Keep track of the new program launch timeline
• Keep track of all the PQM, and quality issues for the new product
• Work with a cross-functional team to develop the PFMEA
• Develop and update control plans for the new product launch (Prototype, Pre-Launch, Production)
• Develop work instruction for the required containment as needed
• Develop and update work instructions for the new product heat and finesse and inspection for End of Line craftsman and inspectors
• Take part in the seat builds and provide a quality point of view on the new product design and assembly.
• Take part in meetings with cross-functional teams to understand the progress of the project, red flags, and impact on quality, and bring other team members up to speed on the quality concerns.
• Take part in the design review of the product as well as different components to be aware of all the nuances that could have an impact on quality.
• Take part in the different build phases of the seats and review the process for any quality-related issues.
• Represent quality in the launch phase audits (LRR, PLT gate exit, etc.)
• Take the lead for the APQP for the new product launch
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including members from BMW, Magna Novi, MSSC, Chomutov, etc.
• Develop a safe launch plan for the new projects.
• Respond to employee issues, and concerns in regards to product quality.
• Represent quality department for customers, assembly line, continuous improvement projects, etc. for their respective commodity.
• Keep track of the key quality metrics: QZ, QI, and RMU KPI from BMW.
• Keep fast response, layered paynter, liaison action application, etc. updated.
• Keep the control plan for the respective commodity updated and perform regular audits.
• Perform root cause analysis for the issuers of quality from customer complaints, assembly line complaints, scraps, supplier-provided parts, etc.
• Perform and make an 8D analysis for the quality issues.
• Assess corrective actions received - follow up and verify implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions and record all objective evidence to support closure.
• Fill and update the BMW Qwin system for the 8D.
• Work with the team to improve team performance by deploying continuous improvement projects.
• Keep the error-proofing file updated for the respective line
• Keep the standardized work instructions for inspectors and craftsmen updated
• Achieve personnel, department, and plant goals.
• Represent quality for their respective commodity in audits (IATF, MAFACT (Magna standard), BMW Requalification, etc.)
• Develop work instructions for processing and assessing the quality of incoming purchased components.
• Develop and implement the containment plan for any changes, defects, customer complaints, supplier escalation, etc.
• Evaluate statistical data.
• Notify supplier of concerns/rejects related to purchased components and initiate corrective actions - coordinate third-party sorts as needed and review data related to sort results.
• Interact with the Materials department on issues about shipment rejections or major online rejections.
• Compile quality performance history and forward to Magna Purchasing - prepare summaries for management review.
• Monitor and track the status of annual validations - review submissions.
• Perform internal audits of the Quality systems as required.
• Ensure adherence to established quality and housekeeping standards.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Ensure all safety and non-safety plant rules and regulations are followed.
• Respond immediately to items brought to his/her attention concerning hazards, defects, or non-compliance issues.

• Attend all scheduled training sessions and complete related course materials.
• Provide feedback to employees (both positive and negative) on an ongoing basis.

Continuous Improvement
• Ensures the operation meets 5S expectations.
• Participate in internal audits (IATF, ISO, MAFACT, BMW requalification, LRR, PLT, etc.).
• Champion continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts for the department.
• Liaise with other departments to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
• Introduce or recommend changes to work methods, aligned with Mafact and MPS methodology.

Minimum Qualifications (Please do not apply if you do not meet the MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
• University degree/college diploma or the successful completion of career-related courses.
• Certified Quality Engineers would be given preference.
• Three to five years in the quality field in a technical capacity.
• Adept with problem-solving methodologies.
• Knowledge of all Quality concepts and phases including PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and control plans.
• Knowledge of GD&T
• Able to read drawings understand the concepts and draw analytical conclusions
• Understand and can develop 8D's as needed.
• Computer literate with strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work any shift schedule according to business needs.
• Able to work overtime and travel with little notice.
• Able to travel internationally to support build events.
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, coordinate, integrate internal data, and articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relating to quality engineering.
• Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, manage conflicting needs, and deal with many issues at one time. Must be able to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to research and recommend new products and processes. Must be able to initiate implementation of continuous improvement processes.
• Excellent communication/negotiation skills with customers, peers and in a positive, cooperative way and maintaining productive and professional relationships with key functional
