About the Role
This position is responsible for the daily operations in our seat assembly department. Responsible for managing resources and personnel to meet safety objectives, production schedules and productivity targets while creating a quality product that "exceeds our customers' expectations."
Your Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of production employees to maintain a safe, efficient, and orderly workplace.
- Encourage the work force to be quality driven and motivated to achieve the goals and objectives of the company while striving to improve first run capability by identifying repeat offenders and developing corrective action to eliminate issues.
- Ensures that the principles of the Magna Employee Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operation Principles are practiced, supported, and reinforced. Practice open and honest dialogue with the employees when administering the plant's policies and principals while maintain professional relationships. Handle issues in a manner that will resolve them before they escalate, practice principles that are fair and consistent; acting only after all the facts are known.
- Be proactive and take responsibility as a change agent by working towards achieving continuous improvement goals established by management, implement ideas that force trends upward, following key factors in production including direct labor efficiency, first run capability, as well as reduced supplier issues, documenting results on a daily basis.
- Display a positive attitude towards safety and lead by example that will result in a safe and healthful workplace. Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures consistently, and respond to and investigate all reports of accidents or injuries in a timely manner.
- Responsible for completing other tasks and projects as directed by leadership to ensure the success of the department.
Your preferred qualifications
- Supervisory experience in a JIT environment is highly desired.
- Bilingual is preferred (Spanish)
Who we are looking for
- Undergraduate degree in a business related field or engineering with two years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer skills with specific knowledge of personal computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing and data base development.
- Must have knowledge of JIT communication devices and MRP systems.
