Position Summary

Works with the design group assisting with projects on all different levels throughout the co-op program.

Team Summary:

The design group works on the design and modification of new and existing driveline products. This group is responsible for the technical requirements of an engineering project through serial development. Lead design responsibility of all mechanical components along with ownership of the Engineering Bill of Materials and all associated drawings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Mechanical System Engineers with product/component design development (calculations, drawing development, CAD, EBOM, DFMEAs, Change Management, product design summaries, etc.).
  • Product development problem solving/root cause analysis.
  • Support prototype builds and approve component inspection layouts.
  • Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (IATF 16949).
  • Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Expected Learning Outcomes:
    • Exposure to modeling and drawing in NX software.
    • Knowledge and application of drafting standards and GD&T.
    • Familiarization with powertrain products and technology.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams to develop new products.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school.
  • Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Working knowledge in computer based software, organizational/communication skills, ability to work with others in a team environment.

Work Environment

Office Environment; limited travel required.

While working in this environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by manufacturing processes.
