About the Role

To increase uptime, throughput, efficiency and quality, through the process of maintaining, designing, developing and continuously improving our equipment and the utilization of technology to ensure the best quality products are produced.

Your Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve our processes for uptime and repeatability.
  • Evaluate downtime situations for root cause and suggest/implement improvements.
  • Evaluate potential risks to similar processes and develop work orders and plans to resolve issue.
  • Preventative maintenance on Equipment - identifies weakness in design and implements improvements. Take pride in workmanship and when performing skilled work develop procedures to educate and train other team members performing the same work. Note - Monitor progress of repair to ensure problem is resolved.
  • Monitor and participate in ensuring all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality and Productivity) are being achieved and if not assist with action plans to ensure success.
  • Ensure all key information is captured and exchanged at shift change to support the other shifts.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of P&F Tool & Die.
  • Co-ordinate activities of apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors.
  • Assist in developing and/or updating preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Read, update, and accurately modify mechanical blueprints.
  • Operation of process cooling water, compressed air supply and air dryers.
  • General knowledge of heating and cooling systems.
  • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the P&F expectations, P&F's vision/values through Magna's Employee Charter.
  • Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and P&F rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Who we are looking for

Your preferred qualifications

  • C of Q (Industrial Mechanic / Millwright).
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in a Press Shop (Stamping) environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of stamping processes.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of mechanical presses; from 500 to 1300 ton (blanking, progressive and transfer presses - Brown Boggs, Blow Press, CCI, Benilli and Aida).
  • Have good experience in the dis-assembly / assembly of clutch and brakes, counterbalance cylinders and gear boxes.
  • Good knowledge and experience of press controls. Good understanding of crank angles, ram (slide) motions, gibs clearances, ram adjustment and hydraulic overloads.
  • Good knowledge of press safety and guarding.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of press lubrication system. Good knowledge of hydraulic gear pumps and pneumatic booster pump (Haskel).
  • Good knowledge and understanding of coil feeder systems (feeder, straightener and uncoiler - International Controls).
  • Strong understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems (valves, cylinders, FRL, pressure switches, etc).
  • Good Millwrighting experience - machining (lathe, milling, surface grinder, drilling), welding (stick, MIG), rigging and lifting devices (crane and forklift operation).
  • Good experience in analytical way of solving problems and good understanding of root cause analysis process.
  • Must be available to work rotating shift within the department.
  • Able to be flexible in hours of work to meet internal/external customer requirements. (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc).
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Physically able to perform the essential duties of the position.
