The Manager, Sustainability is responsible for leading Magna's scope 3 decarbonization efforts, supply chain engagement and support Magna's renewable electricity procurement. This role is to support Magna meet its public commitments such as SBTi near-term 2030 and net-zero 2050 targets. This role is to work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders and external partners to implement decarbonization initiatives focused on scope 3 and develop a robust ESG supply chain program. This role is also to support and own some of the regulatory and voluntary frameworks Magna participates in related to supply chain and ESG.

Your Responsibilities

  • Implement internal data collection tools to support Scope 3 decarbonization efforts and own the roadmap for SBTi net-zero Scope 3 decarbonization.
  • Develop the strategy for rolling out ESG surveys to Magna suppliers, support with execution, analyze supplier ESG/CDP scores and develop solutions to address common risks.
  • Provide resources and best practices to internal stakeholders for supplier engagement to collect required data for Magna's scope 3 calculations.
  • Support with ESG related reporting requirements and rolling out ESG scorecard integrated into Magna's Procurement dashboard.
  • Engage with internal/external stakeholders to develop a roadmap for Magna's product development and material procurement and present Magna's vision at industry events and position Magna as a leader in decarbonization with suppliers, customers, and investors.
  • Build up a culture and technical capacity/knowledge of Magna Buyers/supply chain owners to roll out sustainability requirements and to engage with suppliers to collect ESG and carbon data.

Who we are looking for

  • Experience developing strategies, their respective targets, and the roadmap to success.
  • Comfortable working with both manufacturing teams and senior leadership with a proficiency in public speaking and presentations.
  • Experience in renewable electricity procurement, sales, supplier relations, and/or consultancy considered an asset.
  • Ability to draw and communicate a clear path forward out of ambiguity and undefined project scopes.
  • Understanding of the SBTi frameworks, as well as a deep understanding of decarbonization best practices and technical implementation of novel technologies.
  • Experience with working with Scope 3 and supply chain decarbonization and ESG regulations.

Your preferred qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental Management, Energy, Sustainability, or a similar field.
  • Education in relevant areas, such as business, science, law, sustainability, economics.
