POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Planner plans the maintenance activities. The Maintenance Planner oversees and monitors all maintenance activities for: the installation, repair and upkeep of the machinery/equipment and plant including mechanical systems and other structures; supporting management/supervision/maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy/process application, manpower scheduling, employee relations; continuous improvement related to maintenance functions and energy usage; and the contractor program.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Trade license in electrical or millwright considered a definite asset
  • Must possess knowledge and proven skills in one of the following: Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen; Project management and prioritizing
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office Applications; Computerized Maintenance Management Software (E-Maintenance preferably)
  • Must possess human relations skills and maturity of judgement.
  • Must possess time management, leadership, communication, organization and presentation skills
  • Skill gained by experience - minimum 5 years in a leadership role

DUTIES:

  • Provide strategic vision for the Purchasing department that achieves Divisional Goals and Objectives year over year.
  • Manages all aspects of cost with the supply base.
  • Responsible for development of Purchasing and Tool Crib processes and policies.
  • Manage all employees in MRO Tool Crib.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies with MRO Tool Crib.
  • Prepare weekly KPI for management review.
  • Prepare daily MRO spend for management review.
  • Meet all budgetary requirements for the department.
  • Establish solid multiple sources to ensure continuous supply and availability of commodities identified to support the needs of the division and initiate requests for quotation with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain annual continuous improvement activity within purchasing and the supply base.
  • Maintain the ERP system to be always accurate relating to parts, supplier and pricing.
  • Expedite/follow up on important items.
  • Actively participate in review meetings to ensure the successful launch of new products, processes and tools as required.
  • Maintain document control of purchase orders to ensure audit trails are in place and meet financial and procedural requirements.
  • Establish and communicate all purchasing parameters as necessary.
  • Oversee and react to all variances between purchase orders and invoices.
  • Initiate, implement, and manage the plant maintenance program based on best practices in the automotive manufacturing industry, with an emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Responsible for short term/long term planning and scheduling regarding machinery/equipment maintenance optimization.
  • Researches and obtains cost quotes for plant/facility new equipment/systems as required.
