About the Role
The Trainee, SOC is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the company's security systems, as well as investigating and resolving any security breaches. They may also assist in implementing new security solutions, creating policies and guidelines, and conducting vulnerability audits. The Trainee must be knowledgeable about the company's security goals and work towards upholding them.
Your Responsibilities
• Review baselines to ensure the secure configuration and operations of all devices, whether directly controlled (e.g. security tools) or not (e.g. workstations, servers, network devices).
• Monitor operational configurations of all security solutions in place, following established baselines.
• Monitor all security solutions in place for efficient and appropriate operations.
• Review logs and reports of all devices in place, whether directly controlled or not. Interpret the implications of any suspect activity ad collaborate with the functional team to devise plans for appropriate resolution.
• Participate in incident response activities.
• Execute vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits as directed.
• Provide on-call support for IT management regarding all security solutions in place.
• Take responsibility for special projects assigned by management.
• Maintain up-to-date, detailed knowledge of the IT service industry, including awareness of new or revised security solutions and processes, as well as new attacks and threat vectors.
• Recommend additional security solutions or enhancements to existing security solutions to improve overall enterprise security.
Who we are looking for
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science.
Your preferred qualifications
• Strong understanding of network protocols and modern operating systems.
• General knowledge of scripting and programming.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office product suite
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities, highly self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
