About the Role

The Human Resources Project Manager is responsible for the leadership, coordination, implementation, and execution of HR projects in cooperation with and support of Exteriors divisions. This role requires a strong analytical skillset to be able to work on business requirements together with our cross-functional business ensuring consistency with the Magna Exteriors HR strategy, commitments, and goals.

Your Responsibilities

  • The initial and primary focus of this role will be the leadership of Project Mirasol (Canada/USA Payroll Harmonization; will include planning, testing, and implementation of the project, while providing hands-on support to divisions.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of multiple HR business projects or strategic initiatives within the Exteriors Human Resources Department.
  • Manage project scope, budget and timelines to meet goals and deliverables.
  • Develop statement of requirements and full-scale project plans together with functional teams.
  • Track project tasks and resource using appropriate tools.
  • Lead Exteriors-specific communication, workshops, project timelines, office-hours, etc. to provide the highest level of customer service and support to divisions.
  • Work with Corporate Project management/external project consultants to optimize both the product and the project execution model, delivering an exceptional outcome to the division and end user.
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
  • Lead consistent steering committee update meetings with the project sponsors to review project status, key risks/issues, and associated mitigation strategies.
  • Lead implementation and change management activities relative to new initiatives.
  • Provide direction and support to project team.
  • Implement and manage project changes to achieve project outputs.
  • Conduct project evaluations and assessment of results.
  • Assist with system and integrations testing as needed when new configuration is to be implemented.
  • Lead legacy system decommissioning when new systems are implemented.

Who we are looking for

  • Minimum Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Human Resources or related field of study.
  • Minimum 4 years of Human Resources experience working within a progressive, fast pace working environment.
  • Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of project management and organizational change management.
  • Strong understanding of HRIS/Payroll system design, structure, functions, and processes.
  • Experience with Workday.
  • Experience in complex reporting and workforce analytics.
  • Project management and supervisory experience, including coordinate multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments.
  • Ability to travel overnight 30% of the time

Your preferred qualifications

  • Project management professional (PMP) designation, CAPM, or equivalent certification is an asset.
  • Payroll experience is strongly preferred.
  • Project experience implementing a payroll application is an asset.
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environment or Magna Operating Division is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementation of an HRIS or Payroll system in a global scope is preferred.
