About the Role

Your Responsibilities

• Liaises with other departments (e.g. Maintenance, Engineering) to ensure safety compliance (with assistance of EHS Manager/Coordinator)
• Assists the HSE Manager/ coordinator in the creation & retention of related HSE records
• Helps to create/update HSE documents, policies, work instructions and procedures
• Maintains MSDS sheets and ensures availability to all employees and professional services
• Assist with organizing Pre-Start Health & Safety Reviews, equipment safety documentation and filing appropriately
• Assist in the Risk Assessments of equipment and processes to evaluate potential risks.
• Organize and classify historical accident / incident statistics data and graph results
• Helps to collect data, and generate reports for HSE & Sustainability
• Organize contractor related safety documentation
• Complete various HSE related projects as required
• Assists the HSE Manager/ coordinator in preparation of a HSE audits and inspections
• Assists the HSE Manager/ coordinator in completing corrective actions to resolve inspections and audit findings
• Maintains strict confidentiality of all information obtained, written or verbal, with the HSE department
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations, promoting safety in the workplace
• Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe conditions/behavior
• Adhere to applicable quality systems and IATF16949 standards
• Adhere to and promote the Employee Charter and work within the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Plastcoat Employee Handbook
• Comply with the requirements of C-TPAT/PIP
• Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the Magna Code of Conduct
• Participate in and support Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Maintain work area in accordance with the principles of 5S and operate daily within these standards
• Ensure work area is kept neat and organized
• Perform other duties as required

Who we are looking for

• Working knowledge of health, safety and environment legislation
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good presentation and leadership skills
• Computer literate in word & spreadsheet programs
• Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Well-developed organizational and time management skills

Your preferred qualifications

EDUCATION:
• Currently enrolled in an Occupational Health and Safety related post-secondary program, minimum completion of first year
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in automotive industry an asset
