About the Role

The Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, servicing, and maintenance of all automated PLC control systems with the purpose of supporting the production needs of the company.

Your Responsibilities

• Proficiency in programming with Studio 5000 / RSLogix 500 for ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams.
• Ability to create and modify PLC programs to optimize system performance or accommodate process changes.
• Knowledge of FactoryTalk View Studio for developing and maintaining HMI (Human Machine Interface).
• Experience with Panelbuilder32 and other HMI platforms for creating user-friendly operator interfaces.
• Knowledge of safety PLCs (e.g., GuardLogix, PILZ) and safety relay systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley Guardmaster, ABB Vital).
• Program and maintain vision systems and other peripheral devices, ensuring accurate data collection, image processing, and communication with PLC and HMI.
• Program, configure, and integrate MOTOMAN and Fanuc robots into automated systems, ensuring seamless communication between robots and PLCs for tasks such as material handling, welding, and assembly.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements in PLC logic and control strategies to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, DF1), including diagnosing connection issues between PLCs, HMIs, and field devices.
• Use of diagnostic tools such as Rockwell's RSLinx, RSNetWorx, and Logix Designer to identify communication faults, device failures, or network issues.
• Expertise in backup and restore procedures for PLCs, HMI projects, and industrial networks to ensure rapid recovery after failures

Your preferred qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or related field.
• 3-5 years of hands-on automotive experience with Rockwell Automation PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, and SLC 500 series).
• 309A/442A electrical license would be definite asset.
• Attention to detail is key as position involves work on equipment which is not easily replaced.
• As general direction is provided, must have the ability to work independently
