The Sr Technical Artist acts as a source of expertise, showcasing a profound understanding of building 3D art tools tailored for real-time applications. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the technical aspects of art asset development. This includes responsibility for providing support with shading, lighting, 3D modeling, and rigging of art assets. This role takes artist tools from concept to completion.
What you will do
• Works closely with art and engineering teams to support the 3D scanning pipeline, 3D modeling, shading, modeling tools, as well as the general asset pipeline for development of augmented reality/virtual reality software.
• Leads the technical processes behind art creation, ensuring optimal performance and visual fidelity in real-time environments.

• Offers hands-on support and guidance in shading, lighting, 3D modeling, and rigging, ensuring assets are both aesthetically pleasing and technically sound.
• Develops and refines artist tools, overseeing the entire lifecycle from initial concept, through development, and ultimately to completion.
• Collaborates closely with art teams to understand their needs and challenges, translating these into efficient tools and processes. Coordinates directly with artists and engineers to define optimal specifications for assets.
• Continuously stays updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, and proactively explores opportunities to integrate these advancements into the workflow.
• Provides technical guidance to artists and engineers, serving as an advisor.
• Develops production digital content creation tools and plugins for 3D modeling. Develops software to support OpenUSD tools and workflows.
• Improves 3D scanning processing tools and authoring workflows to facilitate quality 3D scans. Develops new and novel techniques for processing 3D scans.
• Creates project plans for artist tool development.
• Utilizes technical knowledge to create textures and shaders.
Required Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience as a technical artist
• Bachelor's degree in art, engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2 years of experience rigging and skinning 3D models and using advanced deformers for real-time applications
• 2 years of experience working with in-house or commercial game engines

Pay Range: $106,200.00 - $201,800.00 annually
