Job Summary:
The Lowe's Platform Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated engineer to come and join us to develop and build platform and tools for life-cycle management of stateless and stateful workloads in multi-cloud environments.
The primary purpose of this role is to serve as a Sr. Software Engineer within our Platform Core Infra team contributing to the design, development, and support of an enterprise wide microservices platform. This individual will work closely with both architects and engineers to design, build, and iterate on a suite of automation which is responsible for the infrastructure setup, configuration, and integrations of key cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes, Istio, Vault and Consul, Spinnaker, etc.

This role assumes a high comfort level working in an iterative and fast paced agile environment. This role requires a cloud native design philosophy. Responsibilities may distribute across all major public cloud providers including Google, Azure, and AWS as well as our on-prem data centers and/or stores. The Software Engineering Consultant for Platform's Core Infra team absolutely requires a strong passion and drive for automation, consumer experience, and improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translates complex cross-functional business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions; partners with Product Team to understand business needs and functional specifications.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solution designs; evaluates project deliverables to ensure they meet specifications and architectural standards.
- Development experience on languages: Python/Shell/Golang, understanding of open-source tools like Consul/Terraform/Vault/Spinnaker etc.
- Experience of working with Kubernetes Cluster(s) or other container orchestrators in Production
- Has s solid grasp of software design patterns and development experience in Golang, Yaml, and Python/shell, understands application-level software architecture; makes technical trade-off decisions at application level.
- Strong understanding of DevOps culture, Microservices Architecture, Kubernetes Clusters, Containers, CICD practices, building solutions in public cloud (Google Cloud, Azure or AWS)
- Automates and simplifies team development, test, and operations processes; develops detailed architecture plans for large scale enterprise architecture projects and drives the plans to fruition.
- Solves complex architecture/design and business problems; solutions are extensible; works to simplify, optimize, remove bottlenecks, etc.
- Provides mentoring and guidance to more junior level engineers; may provide feedback and direction on specific engineering tasks.

Where You'll Be
- Associates are required to relocate to the Charlotte region to foster collaboration and facilitate improved testing and support.
- Lowe's supports a Flex Office concept where in-person work is required two days per week at the Charlotte Tech Hub
- Most business meetings are planned around the Eastern time zone.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
• 5 years of experience in software development or a related field
• 4 years of experience in database technologies
• 4 years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
• 5 years of IT experience developing and implementing business systems within an organization
• 5 years of experience working with defect or incident tracking software
• 5 years of experience writing technical documentation in a software development environment
• 3 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
• 3 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports
• 5 years of experience working with source code control systems
• Experience working with Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment tools
• 5 years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high level design for complex solutions

Pay Range: $92,300.00 - $175,400.00 annually Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
