Your Impact

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Analyst to join our analytics team that supports Store Operations & Technology team, focusing on leveraging data to optimize our Stores and Omni-channel retail operations. This role is critical to ensuring success for our Stores Operations and Store Tech partners - as Lowe's is in the middle of massive technology upgrades across its entire ecosystem.

In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders to create and enhance BI dashboards, conduct ad-hoc data pulls, perform root cause analyses, and deliver rapid, actionable insights. The ideal candidate brings both a deep understanding of the retail industry-including store operations and omni-channel ecosystems-and proven expertise in SQL, BI tools, R or Python. You will not only drive impactful analytical solutions but also mentor and guide a team of analysts, championing best practices, advanced modeling techniques, and robust statistical methods.

Key Responsibilities

1. Analytical Leadership & Strategy

o Drive the development of analytics frameworks, ensuring best practices in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

o Serve as the primary contact for complex data requests, prioritizing and delegating tasks to meet the needs of senior leadership and operational teams.

o Continuously monitor industry trends in retail analytics and technology, evaluating new tools and approaches for potential adoption.

2. Business Intelligence & Dashboarding

o Lead the design, development, and maintenance of BI dashboards - Products and Ad-hoc standalone dashboards - to provide critical KPIs and performance metrics for store operations and omni-channel initiatives.

o Ensure data visualizations are accurate, user-friendly, and tailored for various audiences-ranging from frontline store teams to C-level executives.

o Provide ongoing governance for dashboard standards, data definitions, and performance metrics to maintain consistency and clarity.

3. Ad-Hoc Analysis & Rapid Insights

o Conduct ad-hoc data pulls to support initiatives such as promotions, inventory management, and customer behavior analysis.

o Deliver rapid insights on short timelines when urgent business questions arise, using advanced analytical methods in SQL, Python, or R.

o Summarize complex analyses into clear and concise presentations or reports for senior leadership decision-making.

4. Root Cause Analysis

o Investigate operational performance issues, supply chain disruptions, or customer experience pain points using analytical models and statistical techniques.

o Develop recommendations to address root causes, collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., Store Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain, IT, Digital) for implementation.

o Monitor the impact of implemented recommendations to refine strategies and drive continuous improvement.

5. Team Leadership & Mentorship

o Mentor junior analysts, fostering their technical and professional growth through coaching, training, and feedback.

o Advocate for a data-driven culture, encouraging the adoption of analytical best practices and promoting a spirit of continuous learning.

o Contribute to the creation of a knowledge-sharing environment, ensuring that the team is up-to-date on new analytical tools, techniques, and retail trends.

6. Advanced Analytics & Modeling

o Employ statistical methods, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics to uncover hidden opportunities in operational, customer, and sales data.

o Lead the development of forecasting models, predictive analytics solutions, and other advanced analytical products that address key omni-channel retail challenges.

o Collaborate with cross-functional partners to implement analytical solutions that scale and integrate seamlessly with existing technology stacks.

7. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

o Communicate analytical findings effectively to non-technical audiences, translating complex data into clear business narratives and actionable recommendations.

o Work closely with senior leadership to identify key problem areas, define project scope, and ensure alignment on deliverables and timelines.

o Proactively collaborate with technology teams to define data requirements, improve data quality, and refine data collection processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data or Information Sciences, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
  • 6 years Related experience (fewer years may be accepted with a Masters or Doctorate degree)
  • 6 years' Experience using analytic tools (e.g., Python, SQL, SAS, R, Adobe, Alteryx, Knime, Aster, Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner, Enterprise Guide)
  • 3 years' Experience working with Enterprise level databases (e.g., Hadoop, Teradata, GCP, Azure, Oracle, DB2)
  • 3 years Experience using enterprise-grade data visualization tools (e.g., MicroStrategy VI, Power BI, Tableau)
  • 3 years Presenting/communicating analytics results to business partners
  • 3 years Experience translating business requirements in analytics models
  • Experience working cross-functionally

Preferred Skills/Education

  • Background in retail (brick-and-mortar and e-commerce) and a solid understanding of omni-channel operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of store operations, inventory management, supply chain processes, POS systems, and related retail metrics
