LogicMonitor Engineering team is looking for a Staff Automation Engineer who can analyze and test the industry-leading SaaS-based datacenter monitoring solution that helps customers to monitor a wide range of devices. As a part of an agile development team, you will help define QA testing strategy, review requirements/specification, design test cases, conduct full QA test lifecycle to ensure the software quality of LM products and services. The Staff QA Engineer will work closely with developers, as well as help mentor other QA Engineers.
Here's a closer look at this key role:
- Safeguard and ensure the quality of LM product and business applications.
- Executes Software Functional, Regression, Performance/Load, and Automation testing
- Actively contribute to automation coverage efforts
- Communicate effectively with developers and team members regarding your findings.
- Designs, build, implement, and perform functional test plans and test cases (manual & automated), based on system understanding and analysis of functional specifications; works with product managers and developers to understand business requirements and perform test effort estimation.
- Identify and generate well documented bug report for each test result using Confluence and JIRA.
- Provide valuable inputs when reviewing requirement documents and technical specifications.
- Work closely with the rest of the engineering team as well as the product team to evaluate and develop best practices & solutions
- Identify risks and prepare mitigation plans
- Assist QA and Release Leads in preparing implementation timelines
- Develop test data strategy
- Create and maintain use cases, test matrices, and regression tests for new and existing features
- Continuous Improvement: As a Staff Quality Assurance Engineer you will share your knowledge through lunch and learns, TechTalks, workshops and other means to help level up the organization and not just your team.
- Become technically competent in all technologies used by our development organization
- Offer technical guidance to QA Engineers
What You'll Need:
- 8+ years' experience of commercial or enterprise application testing experience, including test execution, testing analysis and test case design, etc
- BS or above degree in computer science or related field.
- Experienced in testing distributed web-based or SaaS solution.
- Familiar with at least programming language such as, Java, python
- Proficiency with HTTP/APIs, SQL, and at least one scripting language.
- Hands-on experience with designing Performance test scenarios, preparing test scripts and carrying out test execution.
Knowledge of profiling tools to identify bottlenecks in CPU, Memory, latency, etc. - Knowledge and understanding of at least one database such as Oracle, SQL, MySQL etc.
- Experience in benchmarking Performance parameters of services, UI and identification of bottlenecks.
- Experience with Open Source automation testing tools (Selenium, etc.)
- Hands-on knowledge of using Selenium Grid for scale testing of Cloud solution
- Exposure to measuring performance bottlenecks of at least one of the Queues - RabbitMQ, Kafka etc (edited)
- Hands-on knowledge of Linux for deploying and testing applications
- Hands-on knowledge of using REST APIs in JMeter based automation for testing services from Performance and Scalability perspective.
- Ability to review source code change and make corresponding test strategy
- AWS (or other cloud) Experience
- Familiar with agile process, quality estimates, QA testing process and tools.
- Ability to work on multiple platforms (Windows and Linux)
- An expert, or able to quickly develop competencies, in numerous technologies (i.e. you can learn quickly!)
- Proficient in building and maintaining automation frameworks
- Experience leading large initiatives with the ability to course correct as needed
- Ability to consistently evaluate current approaches to testing to continue to be industry best-of-class
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work with a development team and develop strong, reliable, and effective relationships with team members
- Ability to juggle priorities and work under pressure to deliver against client deadlines also enjoys solving problems (so fun!)
- Persistent: if initial approach doesn't work, must be aggressive in conceiving alternative approaches and following through to success
- Inclined to see problems from the point of view of the customer and of our customer base as a whole
- Familiar with Docker
- Experience testing AWS infrastructure based applications (SQS, S3, Lambda, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to mentor other engineers
- Performance testing and pressure testing experience
- Capable of thoughtful analysis of the costs and benefits of the work being done, with an eye towards maximising customer utility
