Summary

 

Lincoln Electric has an outstanding opportunity for a Tool Design Engineer. In this role, you will play a key role in assuring safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding equipment products. This can be in any of the several groups of the Manufacturing Engineering department. Work will be highly detailed development and documentation of tooling primarily for production use. The Tool Design Engineer will handle a wide range of small, medium large projects with supervision and/or support of more experienced technical experts. What You Will Do

 

  • Support the tool room and manufacturing engineering through the development of accurate and detailed CAD models/drawings.
  • Propose creative concepts and solutions to accomplish work order completion.
  • Work with the tool room to process work orders effectively and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain tool design procedures and standards.
  • Measure or coordinate measurement of tooling that is undocumented or altered to function properly.
  • Support suppliers and subsidiaries needs associated with Lincoln tooling prints.
  • Identify and resolve safety and ergonomic issues related to various types of tooling.
  • Identify quality improvement opportunities and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Implement process improvements and optimization using CI principles and tools.
  • Identify opportunities to drive non-value added waste out of processes.
  • Support the development of processes and the launching of new products.
  • Production Team support.
  • Cost analysis when developing tool designs or alternative concept and material proposals.

Education & Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field with 3+ years experience.
  • Applicable experience in a related field or completion of the Lincoln Electric Engineering Training program.
  • Technically proficient in Solid Edge, Solid Works or an equivalent modeling software.
  • Applicable experience with the use of measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of handling a variety of assignments and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively on the shop floor with employees and processes.
  • Willing and able to perform hands-on work as required.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
  • Willing and capable of working extra hours and off shifts when required.
