Role Overview: Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world's leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus, which is home to 11 separate resident organizations. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series.
Ushers are members of the Guest Experience staff, who are the welcoming faces of Lincoln Center. They greet and assist guests at events and performances in David Geffen Hall and Alice Tully Hall. In addition to greeting, handing out programs, assisting guests with seating and general wayfinding, they attend to guest needs in the halls and other performance areas. It is important they always model Lincoln Center's three Guest Experience Principles: Inclusive, Engaged and Distinct.

The role of Usher is a part-time, on-call position, based on the events scheduled in the halls. Ushers are generally scheduled for 4-hour shifts at a time, and hours can vary weekly and will include daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
The position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA") between Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc., and Local 306 IATSE. Employees are required to join the union. Terms and conditions of employment are subject to Lincoln Center's policies and the CBA.
What you'll get to do here:
- Greet guests attending events presented at LCPA-managed venues.
- Distribute event materials to guests as needed.
- Provide accurate information about an event or venue upon request, including directions within and outside of the halls, and other venues or attractions on campus.
- Ensure performance house rules, such as entry, exit, late seating, photography etc. are adhered to, and maintain access control to performance areas.
- Notify supervisory staff and/or security staff of any emergency situations immediately as they occur.
- Exemplify guest excellence characteristics in all interactions with guests, and fellow co-workers.
You'll be a great fit if you have the following:
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible availability is a must, including being able to work during matinee, evening, and weekend performances.
- Position requires the ability to maneuver mobility devices (occupied and unoccupied) on flat and inclined surfaces.
- Additional requirements include ability to read and interpret ticket information, distribute and pick up Playbills and other printed materials, and use 2-way radios to stay in contact with management, taking further action as needed.
