Role Overview:

Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is looking for a skilled Systems Engineer focused on cloud technology to join our team. As a leading cultural institution, Lincoln Center is committed to delivering outstanding performing arts experiences to New York City audiences. The engineer will be vital in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of our Azure and AWS infrastructure. They will lead or collaborate on proactive maintenance, reporting, and enforce strategic security measures. They will also be part of our innovation initiatives through research and development along with our internal departments. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Information Technology within the IT team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage AWS Landing Zone/Control Tower for scalable, secure multi-account management.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Azure and AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Automate cloud operations using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell to reduce manual effort and minimize human error.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize costs using AWS tools such as CloudWatch and Cost Explorer.
  • Deploy and manage logging and monitoring solutions across AWS and Azure using CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, GuardDuty, and third-party tools like Datadog or Prometheus.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce compliance and implement security best practices (IAM, security groups, encryption, etc.).
  • Manage and optimize AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
  • Configure and maintain DNS, security groups, Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), and firewall rules across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Assist in migration projects from on-premises to AWS or between cloud environments.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews, working with stakeholders to identify root causes, security risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Work closely with development teams to support CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads using AWS services such as ECS, EKS, and Lambda.
  • Stay up to date with Azure and AWS advancements and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure and AWS cloud services.
  • Proficiency with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, and CloudFormation.
  • Proficiency in Azure Active Directory and O365 environment
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps methodologies.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Datadog.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or similar certifications.
  • Azure certifications (AZ-104: Azure Administrator or AZ-305: Solutions Architect) are a plus.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments (Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with serverless architecture and event-driven computing.
  • Knowledge of database administration and optimization in AWS (RDS, DynamoDB, Aurora).
  • Experience with cloud migration projects.
