The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description
Leads complex risk analysis and prepares and reviews reporting packages to support Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) programs, including reporting for various ERM committees comprised of senior executives and members of the Board of Directors. Conducts and leads economic, financial market and industry research and analysis to support key ERM program initiatives. Participates in, makes presentations to, and often leads discussions at ERM committees on group-wide ERM related initiatives comprised of cross-functional teams' initiatives may include development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, improvement of risk management processes and analyses, and implementation of regulatory ERM requirements. Helps drive the identification of future sources of risk and developing recommendations or solutions on how to mitigate.

Responsibilities
  • Supports operations of the function by performing, organizing, and reviewing complex analyses. Routinely initiates analyses independently.
  • Prepares and provide technical and contextual reviews of materials and reporting packages for key meetings, including ERM committee meetings.
  • Assists manager with the coordination of Liberty Mutuals Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA), including technical and contextual reviews of modeling and analysis required for annual updates.
  • Leads or assists in leading group-wide ERM related initiatives to identify, measure, manage and monitor existing and emerging risks, coordinating cross-functional teams as needed. Initiatives may include development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, and improvement of risk management analyses and reporting processes.
  • Conducts and provide technical and contextual reviews of analysis to support Liberty Mutuals advocacy positions on ERM and regulatory capital related proposals.
  • Conducts and provides technical and contextual reviews for assessments of Liberty Mutuals ERM program by external parties such as rating agencies and regulators.
  • Contributes to the development of advanced analytical techniques, processes, concepts, and methodologies to ensure the organization has effective tools to evaluate and mitigate risk.
  • Helps drive the standardization of processes that ensure timely collection of exposure and risk analytics data.
Qualifications
  • Competencies typically acquired through a Bachelors degree in a quantitative field
  • Advanced degree (MBA) and/or professional qualification in one or more areas of risk management is preferred, and 8 to 10 years of relevant experience
  • Additionally, excellent quantitative analysis and modeling skills are required, in addition to significant experience in an analytical capacity (e.g, financial analysis, product management, actuarial, underwriting, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of ERM-related regulatory frameworks (Solvency II, NAIC ORSA, ComFrame) is a plus
  • Very strong understanding of the risk characteristics of insurance industry required
  • Excellent understanding of basic financial concepts and metrics, including financial statement analysis required
