Description
As a Business Analyst on the Small Commercial Profit Guidance, Profit Tools & Analytics team, you will perform business research that's designed to improve business processes and support decisions that contribute to the growth of profitable business. The team closely partners across Small Commercial including Indications, State, Underwriting and Product teams to help guide rate planning, strategic growth, profit actions and a variety of other critical strategic decisions. You will own specific aspects of updating rate guidance behind New Business Underwriter tools and be responsible for updating and enhancing analysis of the effectiveness of said tools and elevating key take-aways to your manager and the broader Small Commercial Risk Analytics team. This role will also provide critical analytical support for Small Commercial Countrywide Analytics special projects. This is a ranged posting G13-G15, and level offered will be at manager discretion based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Owns the maintenance and updates of existing New Business (NB) Underwriter Tools e.g. NB Premium Analysis Resource (PAR) and provides analytic support for new and evolving tools e.g. OmniPath.
  • Delivers quarterly analysis of NB PAR KPIs by line of business, owns the maintenance and enhancements of the PowerBI Dashboard, and disseminates analysis to multiple stakeholders.
  • Compiles information and analyzes qualitatively and/or quantitatively and conducts follow-up and data verification as needed.
  • Analyze feasibility, cost ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential programs.
  • Based on analysis, develops reports, proposals for action or implementation plans as necessary and presents to supervisor or manager.
  • Communicates with other departments often to ensure accurate data structuring, interpretation and actionability of analysis.
  • Works with other departments, conduct interviews, or conduct primary or secondary research if information is not readily available.
  • Meets with supervisor to discuss project status and present recommendations.
  • Performs special projects as requested, working with supervisor or directly with sponsoring manager and/or senior leader.
Ideal candidate will:
  • Display experience in Small Commercial Insurance; Personal Lines experience will be considered.
  • Have experience working with profit guidance and indications.
  • Posses intermediate proficiency in SQL and knowledge of Python & Snowflake as well as e xperience in the MS Suite including Intermediate Excel.
  • Be adept at building and enhancing dashboards in PoweBI.
  • Have strong experience creating presentations in PowerPoint with visual storytelling.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree plus a minimum 3 years, typically 4 or more years of experience, or equivalent, is required.
  • Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other quantitative field are preferred fields of study.
  • Advanced knowledge of data sources, tools, statistical principles and methodologies, and techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (VBA, macros, scripts, formulas, data visualization, etc.), PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (SAS, Emblem).
  • Must have good planning, analytical, decision-making and communication skills. Solid understanding of business to improve business outcomes.
