The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
North America Actuarial & Analytics is seeking talented analysts who will be responsible for supporting the US Middle Market Underwriting teams. You will work directly with underwriting, product and actuarial to enhance pricing decisions and influence strategy. This position will be focused on providing high quality analyses and effectively communicating key outcomes to support ongoing/prospective strategies for US Middle Market. As such, the successful candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to execute thoroughly in a collaborative environment.

If the selected candidate lives within 50 miles of a GRS office, the expectation is for the candidate to be in the office two times/week for collaboration. This policy is subject to change.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to actuaries and others by performing analysis to assist business decision making, financial planning, and strategy development.
- Work under limited direction from manager on more complex tasks.
- Assist in the preparation of actuarial research and complex reports and studies; Communicate and present findings and exhibits to peers, functional leadership and business leaders.
- Build tools that enhance pricing and influence underwriting strategy.
- Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, and on cross functional teams.
- Retrieve, understand and manipulate data as it relates to assigned and related projects.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.
- Work with underwriting to provide account level support.
- Collaborate with Casualty and Cross Lines Pricing Teams on tools used by Underwriting.
- Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff.
- Support account segmentation exercise (may vary by segment/industry).
- Assist in rate filings as needed by each segment.
- Proven math and analytical skills, as normally acquired through the pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or related field.
- Commitment to achieving Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
- Passing grades on a minimum of 5 Casualty Actuarial Exams is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience required.
- Prior experience and solid knowledge of actuarial techniques and standards, as well as other business operations including financial, underwriting, legal, statistics, claims, sales, etc.
- Solid oral and written and presentation communication skills and ability to interact effectively within and outside the organization.
- Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- Ability to motivate and mentor peers and motivate and train subordinates.
- Ability to exercise discretion, and apply independent judgment and well-developed critical thinking skills in execution of assignments and projects.
- Ability to balance multiple projects with minimal direction.
- Advanced computing skills (MS Office Excel, SAS, etc.); Ability to build models of moderate complexity.
