The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
- Collaborate and work side-by-side with business colleagues and interact with customers to address their technical challenges and ensure quality through collaborative, test- and behavior-driven development.
- Work to come up with outside-the-box solutions to solve complex problems that often require innovative, creative approaches.
- Serve the customer and keep the end-user front and center with the products you develop.
- Identify opportunities to enhance performance, quality, and efficiency with a proactive mindset and initiative.
- Coach and collaborate with junior software engineers while exercising your technical chops.
- Represent the team as the Technical Lead to other business partners and engineering teams in our organization.
- Maintain relationship with Product Owner and the business to support refinement of the backlog and advise on work priority.
- Provide 24x7 on-call production support on a rotational basis with the team.
- Travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.

Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Technology, Computer Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related field and eight (8) years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.
Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:
- Front-end Web Development using React (JavaScript and TypeScript), HTML, and CSS.
- Utilizing REST, micro services for data retrieval and modifications.
- Apollo GraphQL utilizing Federated Subgraph.
- Functional and System Integration testing.
- Working in an Agile environment utilizing Scrum.
- CI/CD tools including Bamboo.
- DevOps tools including Git version control and Observability tools including Splunk and Datadog.
- Travel required up to 10%.
- Telecommuting permitted up to 60%.
